My Virool Experience

Cool, it's crazy to see how fast Virool is. Here's my story!

I tried Google Adwords as soon as I had a trailer ready for the One Channel layout. This was when my channel was like 3 weeks old? With a "Spend $25, get $75" deal I decided to give it a shot.

Yeah it took 4 days (ish) to get my video ad approved, I spent all $100 within a week and got about 800 impressions or something crazy like that.

It was a fun experiment, I definitely jumped into it too early, my channel had less than 10 videos at the time. I agree with you that it's probably worth it if all you want is inflated views. With a good enough ad I'm sure it'll give you an inflation of subs too, but my ad was very amateur :)

I've not tried AdWords, it's very confusing and I can't figure it out lol.

This morning I have about 3,900 views on that one video, and have gained approx 25 subscribers as a result of it, as well as 57 likes (and 4 dislikes, but I suspect that was partly because I stupidly posted it on Reddit lol). Was that worth the $100? Probably not, but at least it yielded results, unlike the $20 experiment before.

If anyone else tries it, let me know I'd love to hear how it worked for you with $100!

Ok the views just updated to 4,870 so view wise it definitely worked!

I just clicked your link before reading this thread and saw that and was like WHAT . My video is still stuck on 301 views but no more attention. Unless you have money to spend I don't think its worth it really :)

The video I did the $20 experiment on is still stuck at 301 as well (I guess it has to get a certain number above 301 to change), even though it has about 320 views.

I didnt read all of it but gaining 213 views for $20 is soooooooo bad i would expect maybe 1000 - 3000 it would be better to use adsense if people are going to do this way of advertisement.

Based on this thread I decided to try my own experiment with Virool. I decided to spend $20/day on three different videos ... one was a cute cat video, one was an informational/advice vlog, and one was a let's play gaming video (Minecraft).

The views definitely popped up, and I liked that they only charged for views that lasted 30 seconds or longer. The cat video got the most engagement (increased likes and a couple of comments), the gaming video got a couple of likes and dislikes, and the vlog only got dislikes (oh well). Based on that I should switch to posting cute animal videos all the time ... LOL. Definitely seems legit since I even got comments. I paused my campaigns and may use what's left of the money I have to promote a future video (one that I feel is worthy of promotion).

Yes I found that dislikes are on a Reddit level. I have 7 so far (I have over 60 likes, but still...)

Audience retention has been decent on my trailer as well. Currently stands at about 78%!

Cool :) I opted not to promote my trailer ... I'm keeping it unlisted, unmonetized and unshared. That way I know the stats are all coming from people viewing my channel, which gives me some idea of people who are not subscribed to me who view my channel. Oddly enough even though I have over 300 views on it, I still have no audience retention data yet. :/

hey guys, after reading this I decided to try my own experiment :)

So $100 campaign started, 30 minutes later it was gone :)

So far, because I am stuck on the ole 301+ on my first "How to Win at Youtube" episode, I cant see too many stats (it just ended) but according to Virool, I have had 1955 displays and 1000 views based on a 10c CPV. No subscribers yet and the channel trailer has gone up to 301+ frozen. I had a very small increase on my other episodes in the series, 1 dislike and 1 smiley comment, but I guess this isnt really for me unless I suddenly get a huge upsurge in subs :)

Hope that helped !

I haven't used Virool before, and I don't plan on using it because I really like Adwords. If you know how to Adwords, it's actually super affordable and you can get fans and subscribers. We are currently running a campaign now that's averaging $0.03 per click for our ideal target audience (not just random views). I could probably even get that down lower with a bit of tweaking. I've run campaigns for $0.01 a click before too. I just don't want to see people spending hundreds of dollars on advertising and getting little to no return. Paid advertising can be very beneficial. But you have to do a lot of research first and completly understand what you're doing. Frankie was right to start with a small amount first to test the waters. That's exactly what I did in the beginning (and I'm still learning). I had coupons for Adwords and would just use those to get a feel for what worked best and how to properly use the tools and turn the views into subscribers. Just please be careful because it can be very slippery slope and you can end up loosing all your money real fast and never get a single subscriber out of it.
