I use the miracle sound lavalier mic. I bought two of them and a mono Y adapter for when I want to film myself speaking and someone else.

I found that it makes a huge difference, but I only use my phone.

How much of a difference does a mic make vs a normal camera?

Entirely depends how much you spend on it but even spending £60 it will be night and day.

When I was at uni I had access to a range of professional quality mics. Now I use the Blue Yeti which is amazing for it's price but can't compare!

AT-2020 is personally my favorite and I've used a fair few of the ones listed. However people need to be careful not to purchase the wrong one or make sure they meet the correct requirements.

That's true, when I was looking at mics I was a little surprised at how fussy a lot of them are. You've got to check their compatibility, and how your filming style will affect it. I wish I had the cash for a camera with a shotgun mic, I could do some better films if I had that.

MY first mic was a CAD U-37 Microphone, nothing fancy about it but it did the job it was made for, and at a pretty decent quality. After that I upgraded up to the ATR-2500 and loved it! It is an awesome mic like it said but I highly recommend getting a pop filter for it. After that I saved up and got myself the BLUE Nessie mic, which is by far the best mic I have had so far, you should take a look at it and see if you would wanna add it to the list!

I am using the same mic. I just checked out your channel. Keep up the good work!!

Thanks man! I've just checked out your channel too. It's cool, hope it takes off. How do you use the mic? Seems like you're further away than I can get when I film. Are you filming with a camera and using your phone to record sound? If so, how do you sync the audio and the picture?

I bought a 13 foot extension cable. I record with my iPad. The iPad is mounted on a tripod. I use the lightning to HDMI to give myself a screen of what I am recording.

Wow nice DIY set up! I was thinking about waiting to start my channel until I had the money for super nice recording equipment, but decided to just to a bodge it job. Loving the DIY vibes.
