Guys, Just a last thing!
I am just going to place my order soon, so just this one last time help me. I have no ideas about mics.
So, in the end, I am gonna go with either the Audio technica AT2020, or the ATR-2500.
So my first question about them is! Which one will be better for the long run?
Is the extra dollar worth the AT2020?
What accessories to get for these mics. I wish to get a pop filter, other than that, do I need anything?
Also, do I need a good sound card for my pc to make them sound good?
Thanks you for your help
@Tarmack will you be kind enough to look into it. And which mic would you recommend for a tight budget, like 100$ - 70$.[DOUBLEPOST=1407321529,1407321395][/DOUBLEPOST]And one more thing, which one should I buy, if I choose the At2020?
The normal one or the deluxe at2020+ with headphone jack and stuff. Which will be better for the long run and if price is not concerned (though I am concerned about it)
BUMP!???

The AT 2020 is alround a better mic.
You might need to buy a standard and a popfilter/windscreen, although I don't know if you will need this.
The biggest thing in my oppinion is that you can hear yourself and your pc audio at the same time. No worries, it can be regulated with the mixer. (You can also buy a AT without headphoneoutput or mixer)

Wow, I wish I could have came across this before I bought my mic. I mean there's nothing wrong with it (Samson c10u), but I could have saved up to get the At-2020

Then the AT2020 is the way to go, but I will be buying the usb version so there wont be any mixer :(

The AT4040/2020 is a really really great mic for all sorts of uses. If you're just talking I think the SM58s and other handheld dynamic mics might be a little too muddy without editing. They sound great though if recorded away from the mouth so breaths, Ps, Ss, Bs, pops, etc. don't get picked up.

My dad has a few 58's, they're neat mics and don't cost as much' I used to use the SM48. I'll add those mics when I get to my PC.

The MXL mics would be great for talking because they can get a decently crisp, professional sound without breaking the bank. My first mic was an MXL 770 and for 100 bucks it sounds a lot nicer than the SM58 for the same price. Might not have as many uses, but for voice only the MXLs are a steal. It all depends what your uses are.[DOUBLEPOST=1408155333,1408155107][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, just to add, not sure if these are popular or any other people have these mics but I use a RODE NTK, MXL 770, Shure SM58, Rode M1 and have a pair of Beyerdynamic MC930s on the way.

Can you giveaway a mic to me :) :p
Also is XLR better than USB sound quality wise?

Most of the time XLR is better then USB. But as USB gets faster and people start to uses USB 3.0 and higher. The USB mics will get as good if not better then XLR. So in other words within the next 5 years USB will be as good if not better then XLR.

XLR will always directly be better because it is an analog signal meaning that it is not usable by a computer (Analog is a waveform, Digital is 1s & 0s). But depending on what you use to convert the Analog mic signal to a digital signal is where you might lose some quality where a USB might sound better. For example, I use an Apogee system to convert analog to digital and it is by far the clearest, most precise conversion for under $1k and will sound much better than a USB microphone. Some good quality cheap A/D conversion boxes come from M-Audio and Yamaha as well which will get a good quality signal from an XLR microphone.

All that being said, if you are just using it for speech/voiceover on Youtube videos then all that will probably not even make a difference in the long run as these are all things that to an untrained ear (like the average YouTube viewer) will go completely unnoticed and even if you compared them back and forth to them a difference would not be noticeable. So a USB microphone might work best in your case. I am not familiar with the AT2020 as a USB mic but I know that the AT4040 is one of the best budget mics on the market and if the 2020 is anything like that it will do everything that you're looking for and more.

Hmm...maybe one of these days I'll upgrade from my Blue Yeti, but for the time being it definitely does the job and then some. :cigar:
