I just partnered through SocialBlade and I'm noticing a lot of discrepancies between what happened for me and what people are describing here.
I monetized with adsense for a while before being partnered, and I didn't have to go through any requests or anything to have it unlinked from my youtube account. Once I got a notification that I'd been invited to link with the RPM network from youtube, it was about 3 or 4 clicks and done. Had all features like banner and video claiming almost instantly.
It was very easy and streamlined.
