How do some Youtubers get so many views/subscribers in a short amount of time?

"Content is the king" is not true anymore. Marketing is more important these days than content.

My channel is about 5 months old. With 62 subs and 9 videos I have more then 13 000 views on my whole channel.

This is very good result, but I'm not some lucky dude who get's his views by "accident". I work on in. I work on it a looot.

I spend much more time on marketing aspects of my channel then on creating content. So if the only thing you do is using Twitter then it's definitely not enough my friend.

Great advice but could you elaborate on your marketing techniques? Something I need to work on and fine out where else other Twitter and Facebook I can network/market x

I disagree that content is not king. Good marketing is useless if the content is not good. The problem is that people find it difficult to objectively judge the quality of people's content, including their own.

I had a quick look at JackTheBridge's channel and here are a few comments:

-His thumbnails are excellent, particularly the text and fonts.
-Good lighting in his videos.
-He seems to be using a DSLR and that depth of field along with the good lighting = good quality video.
-The guy has charisma, confidence, humour, higher than average looks and is clearly very comfortable in front of a camera.
-I'm not at all his target audience but he seems to understand what his target audience is and what they want.
-He understands social media, particularly Twitter.

The 2 negatives about his channel I could find were: the audio wasn't great / he talks too quickly and he didn't upload very often in the beginning but he seems to be uploading more regulary now.

Conclusion: Not a big surprise he is doing well.

Marketing is only important if you have anything interesting to show. Your videos aren´t going to become popular just because you promote them a lot and use good marketing strategies. If you create great content, there´s a chance that people who watch your videos will show them to their friends, and that´s how channels grow. I give links for videos to my friends all the time. If your content isn´t good, i ain´t showing your videos to anybody i know, no matter how much you promote them.

Most people don´t get views because they´re not making anything interesting. This doesn´t mean they are bad at what they´re doing, or they have no talent. This means they´re doing making what millions of people are already doing.

For example: This market doesn´t really need more people filming themselves playing videogames. If you´re filming yourself playing videogames, what makes you think anyone should watch your videos, when they already have thousands of extremely popular gaming channels to watch that put out high quality content on a daily basis? I watch about a dozen of gaming channels, and i don´t need more. You gotta give people good arguments to give you a chance, and doing what everybody else is doing isn´t really a good argument.

I would also say that "62 subscribers" in 5 months doesn´t give me any impression of "luck" or good marketing skills and can only be considered "good results" depending on what you´re trying to achieve. Most people would like to become popular on Youtube and make a decent deal of money. If that´s also your goal, 62 subscribers only tells me that you´re very unlikely to achieve it. But if you just wanna have a very small fan base and aren´t interested in making any money at all, then i think you´re doing good, i guess.

I agree! Jack makes good Youtube videos. :)

Do you don't mind checking out my Youtube channel and give me some feadback and tell me things on what to improve on?

I don't mind constructive criticism.

Doing something that a lot of people relate to and want to connect with, but hasn't already been done by everybody else, is probably the most important factor in whether a channel will grow quickly or not.

If you're really good at what you do, but it's a very saturated market, you'll find it tougher to get ahead of the crowd. If you're doing something that not many people can relate to, it doesn't matter how original or high the quality is, the growth potential just isn't there without a large interested audience.

If you have those ingredients, then you can worry about marketing and getting the word out. Otherwise your message will either fall on deaf ears or get lost in the crowd.

Create a thread in the review section and tag me. But only tag me if you truly want constructive criticism and want to improve.

The last time I gave someone a review to someone they thanked me, ignored all my advice, took no action and then created a thread 2 weeks later moaning their channel wasn't growing. Then a week later, they quit YouTube and YTtalk. Another time the guy argued with me and told me I was wrong. Same thing, 2 weeks later he deleted his channel.

I don´t see anything special, or even remotely good about the content of his videos. I would certainly never watch him, but i bet 12 year old girls might enjoy it.

His production value is, indeed, a little better than what i generally see around here. I disagree about the audio. His audio is actually pretty good, and that´s what sets him apart from a lot of people from this forum. I could actually hear him.
