Contacting companies for products

This video is of 2013, so I don't know if it has changed in the meantime. But payed videos are allowed because I have seen a multitude of big youtubers do so. including the brittish group of YTers. They do always add "ad" in their video title.
I will go check some boxes now for the videos I did with given products :p

Yes payed videos are OK. No problems there. :)

Because I know channels of significant size that use this
PewDiePie always used referral links in his video descriptions (g2a, etc...) and is still using it. It's not really fair if google are closing some channels because they are using ref links (good links, not shady stuff).

Some companies request their products back, in that case I cannot see that as being payment, I dont really consider receiving a product payment, no cash has exchanged hands, they have given you something to do whatever with within a video and usually nothing more, if cash has been exchanged then I would see why it would be considered a paid product placement. Is there any proper documentation on what is considered a product placement and when to check the box?

It's not really too complicated. Just always be clear about your relationship with the brand and you'll be fine. If they gave it to you for free, say that. If they're sponsoring the video, say that. If it's an affiliate, say that. Just be clear up-front and check the box for "this video contains paid product promotion" so other advertisers can opt to not have their ads displayed on your video. Then you'll be safe.

Thank you Tim! Love your advice as always :)
