Very nice tips - thank you!
But I have an issue with the referral links - aren't they forbidden on YouTube and wouldn't your channel be terminated if you use them in your video description?

I did not know that this was forbidden, could you give some more explanation about this or where I can find this info? Because I know channels of significant size that use this, so I would like to warn them if this could mean a termination of their account.I wouldnt touch them personally, if a provider of products wants a referral link I would give them a direct link to their website instead and explain that you cannot. It is the same with amazon referral links for products etc

But this would also conclude: "Get 20% off if you use this code" or "get a free audio book if you sign up"This is in the terms:
"5.1 YouTube hereby grants you permission to access and use the Service, subject to the following express conditions, and you agree that your failure to adhere to any of these conditions shall constitute a breach of these Terms on your part:
the sale of advertising, sponsorships or promotions placed on or within the Service, or Content;"
I believe that it comes under promotions, there isnt anything specifically mentioning affiliate links or Amazon links though but I do believe it is best to tread carefully just in case.

The conclusion of this video is that it is probably allowed, but YouTube is very vague to give itself the room to intervene. Also, he thinks you need to check the box of paid product placement under monetization. It seems so yeah, it could also include having any kind of sponsored feature within your videos, say a company was to pay you to promote their product, I cannot see that really being put into practice. @Tim Schmoyer made a video about affiliate links, I havent watched it but the answers are likely in there:
A question I have with this: If companies send me their products to use in a video: is that considered payment?
This video is of 2013, so I don't know if it has changed in the meantime. But payed videos are allowed because I have seen a multitude of big youtubers do so. including the brittish group of YTers. They do always add "ad" in their video title.I think Yes.
BTW at the official YouTube monetization forums affy links are NO GO.
But who knows may be things are changing on YouTube.
In anyway for now I will refrain of using them.
