Common issues that keep you under 1,000 subscribers

Probably promotion in social groups? Post links to your videos on social media platforms and forums where you have a reputation but don't spam. Note that it will still need time to get discovered.
OK, which social media network do you think would give me the best following?

I have this friend who post snippets of his video in his facebook page and share it to game groups (locally) and he gathered a lot of attention since 60% of Facebook users are on mobile, so they can easily watch the snippet and the give the guy a like on his page.

Hmm, that is a pretty good idea. Do you think mobile users will make most of a gaming channel's following?

That depends though, if you know a video game group locally, then it would be a nice start, just don't spam. I believe my friend has 3K+ likes now on his page and some people actually donated him games to play and some even donated to his patreon page.

That depends on your content. Try to cover all you can. I use Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Twitter and Reddit from time to time. Each one of these works a bit different. Especially with reddit you should check if self promotion is allowed in the targeted subreddit.

Its hard for people to watch your let's plays; there is just so much competition out there that getting your name out is very hard indeed.

Thanks for the tips - I personally look back at my videos (stockpiled and on my channel) every time I learn a new tip, so I can see how much it effects my video quality.

I also try new things and keep the videos aside for a couple of days before watching them again so I know it it worked or not. If I like it, I upload it, and the likes to dislikes tell me if the public likes it too.
