Common issues that keep you under 1,000 subscribers

Really great thread. I think for my GF and I's channel the biggest thing thats hurting us is what we do after the video finished.

After reading all the pages I think I messed up naming our videos after our Youtube name because no one knows who we are lol. The one successful video I would say we have is a make up tutorial for the new ninja turtles movie that was released the day of when the movie was in theaters. The Title reads " NEW TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES MOVIE 2014 COSTUME MAKE UP TUTORIAL". Now I'm sure there's a better way to market the video with just the title alone, but thats the only video we've made that's passed 1k views (It's at 11k now).

This might just be me. I feel like a video is less likely to get attention if its under a certain amount of views by someone that people don't know about. If I had a video at the top of search result chillin with 100 views, I feel like the video below me with 15,000 views would get clicked first. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You guys are throwing a lot of knowledge at me ::Writes everything in a notepad frantically::

This thread has some great advice, thanks everyone.

What are your thoughts about Youtube management companies and MCNs TIm?

That's a completely different topic. haha With those companies, just remember that you're paying them every month to provide something valuable to you. If you need the value they offer and you feel the price you pay is reasonable, then it might a good choice for you. If you don't need what they offer or the price is too high, then don't sign with one.

For what it's worth, I'm not currently with an MCN.

Okay my problem is a bit odd, I dont really care if I get a 1000 subs. Id rather have the views. I mean 1000 subs looks good on your channel, but if they aren't watching your videos what good is it.

I am trying to figure out how to raise my retention even with all my newer videos mostly being under 20 minutes, it hasn't moved much upwards.
