After Joining CreatorX - can I Quit Youtube?

There was no difference at all in the placement of our videos when we joined Fullscreen.
So does being with a network help your channel grow at all beyod what you do yourself? Doesn't CreatorX promote you for free on vidstats or featured videos on YT or anything??

Also wondering what their support staff can really help you with? Will they advise me on how to improve my videos (music covers) or what song I should cover, or is being with a network really only about the perks and ad placements etc?

Thanks everyone for your answers - they've been really helpful so far!

Networks do not grow your channel... its up to you to grow your channel..

and if you quit.. creator X will send a big black guy to your house to make you upload a new video... (so dont quit)

I was just accepted to Creator X but haven't received any contracts for anything yet. If/when I sign with them and then if I decide to quit doing YouTube videos all together, Is there any penalty? Does my contract commit Me to keep making videos for the entire term if my contract or can I quit anytime? (I realize that I probably can not quit the network and keep running my channel during my contract - My question is about stopping making videos all together, Or even opening a new channel and abandoning the one I joined the network with If things don't work out)

I'm pretty new and have only been making YouTube videos for a couple of months 170 subs, 10K + views . Could joinging CreatorX help me get more views to my videos (Music video covers) I think my videos are pretty good quality but I've been surprised at how slowly they're being viewed. Can I really expect that I will get more exposure with them? Will joining creatorX help my vids rank better in search?.
Thanks for any advice!
If you're even a little unsure about sticking with YouTube for the full term of a contract... it's rather pointless to sign with any network.

Regarding Creator X specifically... there is a section that spells out what we hope creators will upload each month. However, it's a very reasonable number and the verbiage is clearly flexible. The only "penalty" (side effect) you might incur if you suddenly decided to stop is not hitting the payment threshold.

The wording of your post makes it seem like you want a backup plan of sorts in case you want to "jump ship" to another network or just get out of the network. You should only enter into a network contract in good faith... meaning you intend to fulfill the term (timeframe) and abide by the contract terms. Trying to skirt the contract by "closing" one channel and starting another channel with the same content... yes, that would be frowned upon and there may be verbiage related in the contract.

True. I just haven't received anything yet, so I'm trying to understand as much about the industry as I can. Are the CreatorX contracts for new channels standard, or can they be negotiated on certain points - like this. Or is it pretty much "take it or leave it" with them?

Does joining them help my vids (music video coverd) rank better in search? Thanks.
Our contracts are already geared for emerging creators. You're welcome to try for modified terms, but they're more or less standardized.

Creator X partners are promoted on VidStatsX. Fullscreen has programs to get more exposure in some cases. Also, if a user utilizes all the tools we provide... it should result in better exposure. All that said... ultimately it always comes down to your content. Time spent on that will often get more results than anything else.

Thanks for the interest and good luck!

We only joined because we felt Fullscreen could make us a bit more ad revenue than we were making on our own. We didn't have any expectation of promotion other than what we do on our own.

We had a meeting at Fullscreen when we first approached them about a contract. They let us torture a few of their employees with food items on camera. We got a Facebook plug from it which didn't lead to more subs, but it resulted in just about every other network contacting us about joining up, so at least it gave us a chance to field more offers. I also inquired if we could use some of their office space for a collaboration with another one of their partners (with a lot more subs than we have) and they said yes even after I warned them we would be vomiting all over their shiny new office. So occasional use of their space is an added perk if you have a larger channel and live nearby.

As for advice and strategy, just ask them what they are willing to do. Your partner manager may be willing to work with you or set you up with someone there. We talked to several networks before deciding on Fullscreen. Our meeting at Maker Studios was a nice one. They brought in someone who had poured over all the data from our channel and had watched a lot of our videos and talked to us about strategy and gave us a lot of pointers. Our meeting lasted over two hours and we learned quite a bit. It wasn't something we expected, so it was a nice surprise. If their offer was better, we probably would have signed with them.

That's just our experience with networks. It's different for everyone. We might get a few more perks because we average a million views per month, but don't think that you're an outcast if you have a smaller channel. Your lifeline to the network is your partner manager, so if you get a good one, you probably will get the personal attention that you want and they might be able to help you get that random tweet or Facebook plug. Just don't expect those things to bring in a huge surge of subs.

Could you please explain what this means?

Allow me to elaborate; the question was in regards to leaving YT completely. I make music videos and put a lot of time into them (arranging, recording, editing, mastering the audio, multicam video shoots, etc). Jjoining an MCN is a big part of moving forward in that regard since I can't effectively get sync licenses on my own etc. and so, as far as i can see, monetizing music videos is pretty impossible without joining one. My question was - if i see i'm not growing the audience - if half-way into the contract i'm still not able to attract a growing number of views/subscribers, and i decide to leave the YT music video industry and stop making new music videos for the remainder of my contract, would there a penalty/law suit, etc in doing so? Would i be forfeiting my adsense account entirely?

I am very new to this industry and want to understand the exit terms. Good faith is present here for sure, but i don't want to be contractually obligated to make music videos for the next 3 years if, 1 yr down the road it's clear to me that things aren't growing.

What "support" do your support staff offer the emerging creator? Are they available to advise on what songs are best to cover (demographics/popularity wise), how to improve the videos to gain more views, help facillitate collaberations with other YT'ers, or are we really on our own in all these respects?

How long are first time contracts with emerging creators for?

Do the contracts specify what genre videos i must make, or am i free to move to vlogging if i decide i no longer want to make music videos?

Where can i find a list of the songs that are licensed for covering? Generally with music video covers, we cover brand newly released songs/videos. Are these songs include in your sync licenses for CreatorX members to cover (ie. will i be able to cover and monotize every song I see Tyler Ward/Alex Goot doing covers on)? Am i still free to a cover a song that is not in your licensing pool, just without monotizing it (ie. as an intependant YT partner i seem to be able to cover any song i want - i just can't monotize them, though i am always subject to takedown notices since, technically, making a video of a song you don't have permission to cover is an infringement on copyright), or am i restricted to only covering songs in your license pool?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

You guys are awesome (just checked your channel!). I am about as "emerging" as an emerging creator can be and I was a bit surpried that CrX accepted my application (but my music vids are high quality, if i do say so myself....;). It doesn't seem like i would have near the interest from other networks in my content at this early stage as you guys may have had. Are CrX pretty much the only game for me as emerging musical content, or are there other MCNs that are also open and worth applying to (Maker were completely uninterested in my numbers lol!).

Cheers!

Since you are just starting out, your options will be limited. Creator X seems like a good place to be. I know Fullscreen runs cover contests from time to time with the winner getting featured on the FAM hub-plus they throw in a strategy session. You should ask if you can join in as a creator x partner. From what Ive heard on the forums, their contracts are one year. Think of it as a stepping stone-you can make the jump to Fullscreen or explore your options elsewhere. When you get larger, take a look at Big Frame. They do a lot of work with cover artists and are very selective on who they let in-They don't take on many channels so those that make the cut get lots of attention.

Very helpful. Thanks a lot!

There is almost always a monthly minimum amount set by any network that you need to reach before they will send you your payment. As a result of non regularly uploading videos you will take longer to reach the threshold requirement and receive your next payment.

Hope it helps. :)

got it. Thanks a lot!

If i join with CreatorX doing music vids, would it be against their contract (haven't gotten one yet, so i can't read it ;) ) to switch and start doing a different kind of videos completely, like say becoming a vlogger if i want to stop doing music videos down the road?
