YouTubes making more than surgeons

According to Forbes, Pewdiepie makes about $4 million a year so yeah, there's some pretty insane money in Youtube. It's not shocking though as entertainers have always been overpaid for what they do. Actors and professional athletes have been making more money than surgeons for decades now.

More risk, more reward. You also have to remember YouTubers don't get a pension, insurance, benefits, paid leave etc and a YouTube career will be significantly shorter than most others.

Not surprising. You have to keep in mind there are so many ways to make money from YouTube brand deals, sponsorships, affiliate links, merch, book deals, tv appearances, sponsored tweets, etc.

I've always said that I will not even consider giving up my day job unless I would bring in 5 grand a month reliably. That would mean 2.500.000 views a month or 30.000.000 a year or 82.192 a day. Currently I am doing between 200-500 a day, so I am not giving up my day job any time soon.
I just make my videos during my day job. Kill two birds with one stone.
