YouTube's Future

well over 2 billion people use youtube so that means it is very popular, its like google as google is the main search engine everyone uses (idk any one who uses bing or any other search engine) its the same with youtube as for now its the biggest video streaming/watching site and probably wont be overtaken for the next 10-15 years or more.

Realistically, I do think it's going to take a heck of a lot to bring YouTube down completely. However, I'm completely in agreement with you regarding the problems that have arisen as a result of recent events and decisions.

Something definitely needs to be done about the Fair Use crisis, because it's just getting out of hand now. It feels like the entire programme is monitored by the Internet's top trolls.

I think this will have a major impact on serious creators and the number of people who make their living on the site - as in, it honestly would not surprise me to see a lot of the big names take their work elsewhere if things continue the way they are.

But when it comes to the audience who are only on the site for free videos, that won't be a problem for them. At the end of the day, no matter how many people stop posting or just up and leave altogether, there will always be something to watch.

Thanks for the great responds.

YouTube is a really wide platform, there are communities that are big like vlogs, gaming and music but there are a lot of unknown communities like cleaning product reviewers to online web games; There are videos about everything on YouTube!

Even if there's drama in one of those communities it wouldn't mean that YouTube is gonna be gone anytime soon.
The only thing that I'm wondering is if YouTube is becoming too expensive for Google to maintain the website, I hope that there will be a great solution in the future that helps websites and companies make money to keep their websites up to date etc in a way that won't be annoying to the audience.
YouTube didn't make YouTube Red just for the money, this service will probably become Awesome and have a lot of cool series and films like Netflix one day :U

Youtube is a very famous platform. Whenever someone want to advertise their videos, the first thought is Youtube. Also, Youtube has all the famous... well video producers. Therefore, the viewers will stick to Youtube as long as those famous Youtubers stay there. At least that's what I think.

I am starting to really worry about the long-term future for YouTube. The way they handle copyright issues and the appeals process is very troubling. Let's also add the Fine Brothers incident. This has created a lot of drama on YouTube and I worry if the audience will begin to cut back on their daily YouTube viewing.

Does anyone else worry about this?
Nope - not worried. The copyright crap does concern me and I hope it gets resolved, but ultimately, YouTube is going to be around for a long time to come. It's entirely possible that in the future, some other site may take its way. If so, then so be it. I'll worry about that day if and when it comes.

For what it's worth, most people that I know don't have a clue that YouTube goes any deeper than search and play. They don't know about the drama, they have only a vague notion of subscriptions, they certainly don't use any of the community features. Not worried.

YouTube is somewhat different today now.. I miss the good old days (2011 - 2013)
Maybe only because this was when I just found out that there's a site called YouTube

YouTube is just making adjustments, I think. In the early early days, it was a horror show for copyright holders of material, because people used their songs, video clips, and entire pieces of content (whole television shows, whole concerts, uploads from live shows) with absolutely no consequences. Now, things have tipped in the other direction, but I think that's just a blip because the copyright control system is fairly new. With the amount of material being uploaded at such a rate as it's being uploaded now, it's going to take a while to iron these things out. People have only been able to make a living from YouTube for a little while now, in the grand scheme of things, so the balance between making money for content creators and making money for the platform and keeping the platform from being sued into oblivion by large corporations is difficult, at best.

I think it'll work out. It'll take some time, and the little guy always takes the hit in these stages, but it'll work out.
