More people will most likely watch their video. Think about it if your the first to review something and people haven't purchased it yet. Wouldn't it make your video more interesting? Then for it to be like the 4th or 7th person who reviewed it.

I didn't see the new Star Wars Rogue One movie in theaters and wanted to see it on bluray at home instead. Immediately after it was released in theaters people jumped on to youtube to make full reviews of the movies. Intro, plot, ending, etc. basically completely spoiling the entire movie.

I pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch on the announcement date. Now everyone + their mother is getting early review copies and unboxing, turning them on showing them off, etc. I hid these videos from my suggested videos and any tweets that have to do with this because I would like to experience those types of things myself for the first time.

Why is it youtuber's mentality to be the FIRST to make videos about a product? Even if it means spoiling it for everyone. I thought there was a special rule of waiting a few weeks to let everyone who wants to see or experience it do so first before talking about it.

What do you guys think?

I did a switch video. Being in Japan it means the first time zone and a big jump on the us. It also means you'll be standing out there when the tsunami of big channels do it the next day and I'm wiped out

It happens. But each time I get a little bigger

This is literally like the story of my life with mobile game videos. It's just this constant race of looking at the app store and trying to jump on new games and fill up the search rankings with good videos before anyone else notices haha. Most new games I see a channel materialize from nothing who just had super good timing and made lots of videos. Timing matters a lot in certain YouTube genres and waiting a day or a week can make the difference between 1,000 views or 30,000 views on a video.

It's obviously not the only factor, but regardless of whether your video is any good at all if there is demand for a new product and no competition your videos will get views.
