That's true. I have no idea how much money big YouTubers make. But I think it should be enough to no longer worry about getting more ;)

That looks impressive but I guess it's just the "top 25 of the iceberg" if you think about the hundreds (thousands?) of shows out there. Plus, almost half of those shows are on CBS which has the oldest viewers. Sadly, advertisers don't care about them and pay less or nothing for them, I assume.

I would think that the networks are trying to rope the big YouTubers in to get a piece of that young audience they might bring with them.

Maybe you aren't aware of his track record. - For a long time, when he used to "give credit" to the original creator, he gave a link not to the original video on the creator's channel on YT or break.com or whatever, but to a ripped copy of the video hosted on his own (RWJ's website !). By doing so, he was denying the original creator of any views or ad revenue. Hence my use of the term "leeching".

It's only relatively recently that he stopped doing it due to him being called out about it so many times.

I've been watching RWJ since 2009 / 2010 or so, and he always had links to the original videos, until he joined Maker Studios. After he joined / helped launch Maker, we saw the launch of his web site, and of that silly linking practice. Since leaving Maker, RWJ has stopped doing it. Maker Studios was the one forcing that "leeching," so please put the blame where it rightfully belongs.

Oh and if you check RayWJ.com ... it's clear that it hasn't been updated since Ray left Maker (everything on there is at least a year old, still has My Favorite Martian content, etc. ... clearly Maker owns the domain and web site and hasn't done anything with it).

No-one was forcing him to do anything. I certainly don't remember him complaining when it propelled him to most subscribed channel in 2011 pocketing thousands of $$ in the process.

Even putting to one side the issue as to where the original content was hosted, the fact remains he still makes money today from other people's content. That's leeching.

It's fair use - as much as Tosh.O is fair use. Or America's Funniest Home Videos, which started the format in the first place. Also you don't know if Ray had any internal conflicts with Maker on how they were linking his content (at that point he wasn't editing or uploading his own videos anymore). Ray shared a lot of his conflict with Maker, but I'm sure he didn't share everything.
