YouTube "Tip Jar"

I think it's a good idea in theory, but it's going to have some MAJOR problems. This is going to directly influence how people 'YouTube'. It's going to attract even more people who have it in their heads they can start up yet another "I-do-gameplay-pranks-vlogs-iPhone vlogs-Homeless pranks-Penny Board-Tag videosTV" channel to get rich and famous.
Also, nobody can deny that this tip jar is going to swing solely in the favour of 'big' youtubers. PewDiePie, as an example, is clearly making a s**t-tonne of money off YouTube, and this is going to massively increase his earnings straight off the bat. Same goes for other massive YouTubers; Smosh, Zoella, whoever. It's going to make so many young and easily-influenced kids part with a lot of daddy's money in the thought that if they donate donate donate, they will be noticed by their idols. Fair enough, that may actually happen, but I have a feeling that will be the exception to the rule.
If you ask me though, the person that will benefit the most is that Jessica Ngiri or whatever she's called. Soooo many hormonal teenage boys are going to donate in hopes of getting her attention.

TL;DR - I'm all for it, but it will only reinforce YouTube's culture of 'the big get bigger, the small get smaller'. And sexy girls will benefit the most :P

I like the money idea it can act like a kickstarter trying to help someone dreams and help some one like get the funding to make thier own game or somthing

I just hope it's secure...I'd hate to think that kids could drain $500 of their parents' savings to PewDiePie with a few clicks. I could see that getting abused really quick.

100% agreed
(took me a good minute to find the % key wow) :D

Checked the sign up page for the beta, saw this note:
"NOTE: Right now we're only testing for channels and viewers in USA, Mexico, Japan and Australia but more countries soon!"

I'm located in Canada, wonder if it will still work since most of my fans are in the USA.

A nice feature, although I do agree that there will be a huge increase in people asking for donations. Still, it'd be nice if used passively. I once had someone reach out to me looking to donate, and this new feature will certainly save a lot of time over Paypal for example.

you know how much extra all the huge channels like pewdiepie will make? lol. Probably more than he makes from monetization haha

Cool feature. I doubt I'll be donating to anybody, but it's nice to be there. If someone decides to beg for money, that's their problem. Same goes for whoever donates.
