Youtube Tags

yeah, thats right.

i always sayed to myself. my next video i put in a great description. but when i do so, i forgot, have no time for it ....

Hi,
There is something really i'm not sure about and it's about Youtube Tags in the description. I have tags i've entered in the video manager but i also see others adding them in the description as well, so i just did that too. Does it matter or not?

That's something dating way way back to the "old" days of YouTube, and to a time when the Google search algorithm wasn't nearly as advanced as it is now.
Long story short: no, don't just add the tags as text last in your description.
However, you SHOULD use the tags IN YOUR DESCRIPTION, but NOT as stand-alone. Lets say you have the tag "Skyrim armor addon" (just as an example). That tag should be reflected in your title, as well as in your description. So you might want to have something along the lines of "In this video I take a look at an awesome Skyrim armor addon, that bla bla bla bla bla". It's also a good idea to wrangle that in several times, throughout a long description. Then you might say "But I have so many different tags, how can I use them all!?" - well, if you have tons of tags that aren't relevant to each other, you're doing something wrong. In the above example, you should also have the tags "skyrim" "armor" "addon" "skyrim addon" "skyrim armor" and so forth. Your tags should all be centred around the same point. If they are, using the tags multiple times throughout title and description shouldn't be difficult at all.

meanwhile you dont need both. if you have skyrim and addon you dont need skyrim addon!
he search for every word alone!. if somebody search for skyrim addon. he also get youre video (if its popular enough) where you only have skyrim or addon.

the best you can do is. use the keyword tools. there you can search for youre words. its best way to choose the right tags! there you would also see that you get more views with skyrim and addon than with skyrim addoN!

quick question!
Do Likes & Favorites matter in SEO?

what is seo? the search? subs and likes matter, yes. how bigger youre channel is how easier other find him in youtube, google.
if you start a channel and put in the searching box 10 tags of youre game. maybe you cant find him and also find other channel without these tags. cause they are big and the example channel not.

meanwhile you dont need both. if you have skyrim and addon you dont need skyrim addon!
he search for every word alone!. if somebody search for skyrim addon. he also get youre video (if its popular enough) where you only have skyrim or addon.

Not correct. The google search algorithm looks at close matches to search terms. The more a tag relates to that search term (obviously a perfect match would be best), the better it will rank for it. Of course, having just "skyrim" and "addon" as two different tags, will still allow you to show up somewhere for "skyrim addon", but if you have an exact match tag, that would be better. While there's no official word from YouTube on this, this is how the google search algorithm works, which is largely the one YouTube uses, so it's to be assumed it's the same.

quick question!
Do Likes & Favorites matter in SEO?

To a certain degree, yes. General user engagement is what matters. That means likes, dislikes, shares, favourites, adding to playlists, comments, subscribes from the video (most likely, anyway), percentage of video watched, and so forth. I'm still doing research on exactly how important this is, but yes, it is a ranking factor.

just tag in the tag section but add keywords in the description the best you can, plus change your taggs on your old videos i dont that like last week and my views have went up quite a bit

Thanks for the tips guys!! I just changed the tags on my Video with the research of the google tool! I hope the views begin to pick up.

Exactly right. I remember when they first changed this. People were exploiting it (and still are to some degree) by having excruciatingly long videos that get ranked in the top 5 for their keyword/phrases simply because they are long. I think they've mostly fixed that though.
I really wish I knew the weight but I can tell you, I have some rabid fans that thumbs upped and commented like crazy on a few of our web series videos and we shot to the top of the listing for a keyword that was also a major keyword for a movie AND a band. So Participation (viewer engagement) is definitely a big deal.
