hey guys, yesterday I put up a Christmas video. I used the music you can download from youtube itself for free. and now youtube says I'm using music I shouldn't be using because of copyright. How can I remove the warning. because I'm not doing anything wrong.

Repeal it.

Youtubes terms and conditions say this:
Your use of this music library (including the music files in this library) is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. Music from this library is intended solely for use by you in videos and other content that you create. You may use music files from this library in videos that you monetize on YouTube.

By downloading music from this library, you agree that you will not:

  • Make available, distribute or perform the music files from this library separately from videos and other content into which you have incorporated these music files (but not for standalone distribution).
  • Use music files from this library in an illegal manner or in connection with any illegal content.

monetize means? making money or something? I don't make videos for that. but I don't understand how I get a warningfor using the jinglebell rock, while I use jinglebells. I don't understand how to remove the warning. can anyone help me with that? I never had a warning for using music profided by youtube

it's the warning you get instantly after uploading. 'there might me copyrighted content blah blah.' and it says I use jinglebell rock produced by ... but I'm not using that song. and it says I can fight the matter or something, don't know how to translate it to english. if I do that I got sme things to choose from, like 'i'm not using the song fr money and stuff. don't know what to do, because I'm not even using the song they mentioned.

Oh, that's not YouTube, some random company's Content ID Manager must have picked up the tone of the song and mistaken it for theirs. It's not uncommon since Jingle Bells has the same tone (I think I'm using the right music term ) regardless of whether it's rock, metal, dubstep actually dubstep would screw it up, techno or normal. Like Jos said, you can dispute this.

It was melody not tone. ;)

All you can really do is dispute it under the grounds of fair use. I have the same problem with my videos too. If you're not making money off of the video and/or you credit the owner, it won't excuse you from using copyrighted content but it will make it easier to claim fair use.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you've been given a serious warning about it from YouTube threatening to delete your channel. I acknowledge it's really annoying though!

thank you all so much! your answers are very helpfull. now I understand what the whole copyritght issue is about. I learn everyday of you guys.
