Youtube reencodes the video quality

Im not an expert on the best settings etc but I would shoot video using fairly low ISO settings and increasing light where you can assuming the video is shot with a camera with manually adjustable ISO to ensure the least amount of grain in the final video, I dont think we have much choice other than trying to produce the best quality ourselves for them to re-encode.

Do you think it's better if you use the same format for your videos as the one YouTube converts them into?

I would guess MP4, since that is what they offer you if you want to download your videos again :p

Doh that would make sense :D Yeah make sure to keep copies of your video renders, I have had to download the MP4 versions before and comparing them there is some quality loss.

Oh indeed there is.
I have every video file stored away on different hard drives.
But I'm not sure where my 2012-mid2014 hard drives are. >.<

Probably somewhere in the house, or in my moms house.
