Youtube reencodes the video quality

Thats internal, you can get similar external ones too. I recently got a new case with plenty of space for hard drives and I could do with the extra space :D

There are two wires, a power and data cable, one runs from the power supply to the drive these days its usually a SATA power and the other is a SATA data cable from the motherboard to the drive. It is very simple to install one, just as easy as a graphics card if you have installed one before :)
 
YouTube will always re-encode your videos so that they are smaller in file size and thus easy to play back on any device / internet.
HOWEVER...
I do recommend you export your videos using the H264 format - it's container is .mp4 and is in my opinion the most versatile codec you can use right now when exporting videos. Make sure some of the more technical settings (watch some exporting tutorials!) are set up correctly and you'll have a great result!
