I didn't start to look at YouTube as something someone could make a Job/Career out of until like early 2012 when people abusing the YouTube Algorithm with bots, giveaways, misleading titles/thumbnails, reply girl garbage and bumping got really bad. I realized that money became the number one motivator and people were scrambling to get a piece of the action going on. Now a lot of people (especially the younger crowd) in the comments I've seen within the last year look at YouTube as a job and not a hobby. It is really quite sad because I'm seeing channels going into doing YouTube with the intention of trying to make money but not realizing that YouTube wasn't created to be beneficial to those seeking to make money.
YouTube is a creative video sharing website. It's never catered to those that make money or want too. YouTube/Google does not hire anyone like PewDiePie, NigaHiga and so on to make videos for their website. YouTube just shares the ad revenue. I personally don't see making YouTube money as a Job, more like a small business of your own however you are not actually hired or entitled to make any money. Does YouTube have to share any ad revenue with any of the content creators and Networks? Can't they determine who makes money and how much? It all seems very flimsy and not what I personally would use as my primary source of income. If I was a content creator who was making a few thousand dollars a month from YouTube I'd be putting that money to more schooling or a business of my own. (EDIT: Because I've already seen what a rise and fall on YouTube looks like. People making a lot of money and than making minimum wage and not having any plans to fall back on.)
Anyway, I really like the comments on here. Seems that people have not forgotten that Community is important when it comes to YouTube.
