Your favorite video editing program?

Styxie wasn't incorrect. He interpreted the OP as asking about a non-linear video editor. Strictly speaking, After Effects is not an NLE, even if it is capable of many of the same things.
Maybe that was his interpretation, but his argument as to why AE is not an editor was very flawed. He brought up many irrelevant points about the programs, going so far as to discuss cabalities of one program that are available in both.

That's what I meant, Was only suggesting that After Effects is not a NLE, I might not have put it too well, so sorry if it appears that way.[DOUBLEPOST=1373666921,1373666854][/DOUBLEPOST]

Do you disagree that the main function of AE is for compositing/special fx? Yes, It can edit like like Premiere, but that is not what it is for..

Sigh, I was never saying you could not, I am saying you don't use After Effects for putting together your film, video etc. That is what you use Premiere for. As Gisikw said above, "editing" might mean different things for different people.
All I'm getting at is you most probably should edit (see put together, one clip next to another, etc) stuff in Premiere, and edit the title, special effects etc in AE.
No need to get your panties in a twist.
Well, editing for YouTube and the real world of film are very different. You think compositing footage is editing. Sad truth as it is not. If you want to know how the programs should be used, you should composite footage in your program of choice as you can easily move across the two. Then, open the audio tracks in Audition if you need to place any markers. Finally, sync up your audio in Premiere before opening it in After Effects for final production. Now that we've covered the entire editing process, we should be clear. Next time, don't interject partially correct comments in response to other's opinions.

I know very well how the programs should be used thank you very much, But you simply do not understand that After Effects should not be used to replace Premiere, It is for titles, special effects, etc etc. If you want to put together a simple YouTube video, the software to do it in would be Premiere (or any other NLE).
There is a reason they teach you how to use Premiere and Avid on editing courses and Premiere and Cinema 4D etc on digital effects courses, because that is their intended use.

I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but based on this, you just don't know what it is you're talking about.

First off, I think you're confusing "compositing" - a process of superimposing images on top of each other, with "composing", as in "creating a story".

Second off, you wouldn't sync audio in Premiere and then toss things to AE for trimming. You would trim in Premiere. You'd use AE for animations, advanced compositing, FX, what have you. This is what's typically done in a "professional" video environment. You can feel free to lecture about your own personal style, but that's what it is - your personal style.

Thirdly, just stop.

Well when you have many video files, you do in fact composite them in separate video channels. Secondly, trimming in After Effects is much easier when you can match it up to your effect layers. The hot keys are faster as well. But you could do this in either. I never specified where you would do it. I also stated that you would use AE for the final effects. I didn't think I needed to focus on the trimming process. So, care to tell me that I don't know how the process works again?

Nope, you're just trolling and trying to get a rise out of people. If what works for you works for you, great. Have a blessed rest of your day.
