Your Backup Plan...

JollyDangerous

I Love YTtalk
Many Youtubers were or are in school to be things other than a youtube star. Most started youtube as a hobby and was just for fun. Eventually they started getting paid to do it. Thats when the pipe dream began. It takes alot of skill, dedication, and patience to be a social media celebrity. Some who attempt it fall short and quit some get big but stop being relevant, others go on for years putting in hard work and long hours for very little pay off. I have other goals I would like to achieve short story writer, animator, actor, novelist, buisness owner.

Will I achieve all of them no but maybe I will. All of these things I am working toward while still doing youtube can actually go hand in hand with each other. If I can become a better artist that would help me with animation and would probably land me more views which will get people looking at my acting stuff and so forth. I have greater plans for youtube but I can still do these individually without it.

I am saving money to attend an online animation school that has a very high indusrty hiring rate and I would like youtubte to eventually be able to help me pay for that. That is my backup plan if youtube fails.

What is your backup plan?

I didn't know you were an animator... Duly noted.

I have many entrepreneurial pursuits, and Thrashimation is just one of them. Before I can start all of these businesses, I need to get my IB diploma and attend college. But I'm making Thrashimation with the intent of not failing. Would I accept it, yes. Am I doing everything in my power to not let that happen, yes.

Yep, I'm thinking just like you except I want to be a video game designer as my future career.
Nice Maybe I'll be seeing a indie game from you in the future. :D

I eventually want to start my own business, I hate working for other people. Youtube was mostly a way I could share videos with my friends & family without them watching at my computer, then it turned into a little hobby, and now I even make some money off of it. Even if I made 50k a year off Youtube, I would still work a normal job. Right now my Youtube money is my "play" money.... I don't depend on it, but it's nice to get those checks for something I would have posted even if I didn't get paid for it. Some people can use Youtube to their advantage in a career. My buddy does Vaping (e-cig) mods and he got hired at his current job because of his videos. He has also gained a ton of subs lately and is catching up to me quick on views. He said people in San Diego recognize him from the web, I've still never got that. Has anybody else been spotted by a Youtube viewer in public?

I am working on becoming an actor as of now. After this Summer I'm going to focus hardcore on getting to California and perfecting my skills. I see YouTube as more of a fallback really. I don't make money off of it as of now, but I'm not really focused on that. I'll monetize my videos when I feel that I offer more to the community.

Thats awesome! Although if I was making 50k a year off of youtube I would be doing youtube full time as my main incone which would give me more time for my other plans but that is so cool.

I would like to do the same but there aren't many acting schools in houston and I currently dont have the money to relocate to anywhere that does have them. I also feel the same about the monetization of my vids. I told myself that I wanted to have a certain number of subs or a really popular video before I monetize.

To be honest, I hate working for others. I'm above average intelligence, which helps, so I should get good grades. I feel that, at the grand age of 14, I'm starting YouTube at the right time. I have very few financial commitments, some spare time, and nobody depending on me. YouTube is a hobby for me, but if I could, I'd do it forever. At the moment however, it's simply a way to gain confidence, editing skills, people skills and some fun. Realistically I'll end up doing directing, editing or something as a career, but IF my YouTube took off, I'd focus on it, since I love it sooooo much. :)
