wow.. another youtube drama.

Okay, I feel comfortable enough in this thread to tell you a satirical video that I had on my todo list but am canceling. It was to be called "When can I?" The answers would all be numbers of subs. It would start with boring questions, such as When I can call myself a YouTuber? When can I call myself a big YouTuber? Soon, it would move into When can I lure an under-age fan to my hotel room? Then, when can I sexually assault someone? The end after increasingly absurd questions--and here is why I am not doing this any more--would be When can I sexually assault an underaged male fan if I am a gay man? I was going to say something like "you need a lot more than subs than Tyler Oakley has because he hasn't done that, and it's not good for the gay community to act in that way before Tyler gives us the go-ahead."

Now that this has happened, I am not finding my video idea so funny.

Personally I make funny content on and around sensitive subjects. This would be the sort of thing that I would have no problem making or doing. You would probably get hate for it though so unless you are fine dealing with people who are incapable of understanding the angle you are taking on the whole situation, I would say not to do it.

I never have a problem with people who make jokes about serious events just because people deal with situations in completely different ways. The internet doesn't see things in that way though xD[DOUBLEPOST=1415659870,1415659394][/DOUBLEPOST]
Yeah, I agree and to quote myself earlier:

Each situation is different and we should always get as much information about what happened before we make our own opinions on the matter. It's a shame though because a lot of people will take someones word for truth straight off and if someone questions that, they will be labelled as 'victim blaming' when that simply just isnt the case.

I could probably get a friend to upload a video of her talking about a situation where I abused her, then just actually testing what the reaction would be and how far it would go. Then have the same woman in a video with me uploaded at a later date saying that we did it just to show that people need to actually question things and look deeper into situations. If I did do that though It would just be cast to one side as victim blaming instead of actually trying to promote critical thinking.

Like a social experiment? Well I heard of this guy named Sam Pepper did that and look where it got him.

Yup, the only way to success is to become infamous nowadays. That is, if you count success as 100k views and thousands of subscribers. Which I do not.

This guy is a marketing genius. but on the same note these ppl need to contact the cops and stop posting their business on YouTube

All of that is about one guy? I've gone thru some of the posts and watched 2 videos and that's crazy. Sam Pepper has some competition. Still, is there anything that is going to be done about this Legally? Because I am weary of these victims making these videos if they haven't reported or are reporting any of these things to law enforcement. It seems like some of these people have enough or good evidence to make a good case for a crime or two or three.[DOUBLEPOST=1415672207,1415672130][/DOUBLEPOST]

Oh my god. If this thread wasn't about sexual crimes I totally would have laughed at that but I think I know what you meant when you said that which triggered my funny bone :O

They all are about the same person, and I don't know all the details but at least one of them went to the police and I think another did too.[DOUBLEPOST=1415672383][/DOUBLEPOST]http://newmediarockstars.com/2014/11/craig-dillon-accused-of-sexual-assault/

  1. It's too late to go to the police. No rape kit, no conviction.
  2. Anybody can get on YouTube, tell a story. If he was in fact raped, that's truly horrific, but I will NEVER jump to assume someone is guilty of rape because someone else says so.
  3. Because it's too late to go to the police, making a YouTube video about it & having it go viral would be the next best thing, to some.
That said, there's 0 proof.

Why is it too late? (My story)
A guy named Dave in my town supposedly raped 3 girls & tried to rape a 4th. One of those girls was my girlfriend and she was raped before I even knew her - So it's not like she was trying to cover up cheating, and she wasn't a virgin so it wasn't a way of her trying to preserve her mental virginity (by yelling rape).

After he drove by in a car screaming he'd rape her and kill her, I had enough. We got together and made a plan. A friend of ours called him later that night and had him meet them. We followed Dave, the rapist, in our car. I beat him up.

A week later, my girl was very sad and she told her mom. Her mom called the police. An investigation was done, especially after 2 other survivors (and a 4th, who he attempted to rape, but a friend stepped in) came forward. Well, nothing happened. Too much time had passed and there were zero rape kits. No can do.

He later got arrested for selling drugs.

----
The reason I shared that story?
It doesn't matter what people say on YouTube.
No rape kits & no immediate reports (with evidence) = No arrest.
So, this famous YouTube "rapist" (quotations because he may not even be one) is free to walk unless he rapes someone else and they go to the hospital to have a rape kit done right afterwards.

I'm inclined to agree with you. What I don't like the most about these situations is that it is common place for such confessions to be posted online for anonymous and random people you've never met to see and judge instead of going and seeing a counselor or mental health professional or even one's own parents. There is a huge disconnect here because whenever I see these videos these victims aren't saying what I think needs to be said and instilled within people and that is "Don't be afraid to come forward." "Go to law enforcement right away, file a report." "Talk to someone who can help you."

The real truth is we DON'T know what really happened. We DON'T know if anyone's lying either completely or partially. The actual events might have even been a combination of both accounts, but even that is just being totally speculative. I seriously warn you guys to not take videos posted on the internet at face value. The reality is people CAN just post a video saying something like this and ruin someone's life, and whether it's true or not, WE ARE NOT THE JUDGE. Random people just watch one or even both accounts and think they know what happened, and post comments like it even makes a bit of difference. It's really disgusting (I'm talking about the commenters who think they deserve to be judge, jury, and executioner). This is probably going to fall on deaf ears, but I encourage you to just drop this. It's gambling with people's lives and it should ONLY be investigated by actual police, not an internet mob.
