As the title says, Would you mention your channel in a job interview? or CV?

Have you already done so? with good results? let's share our experiences.

I interviewed for a teaching job (it was way above my skill level but hey I thought why not try) and even though they diddn't consider me they specifically mentioned they liked my channel.

It was also super helpful for my college interview. after spending an hour or so showing the teacher my artwork, I showed him an old Youtube video and he told me "why diddn't you show me this earlier, you'd get on the course with this on it's own"

what is your own experience with this?
or is it sometimes better to keep our youtube identities away from jobs? maybe if you're a little wacky on your vids :D
My general answer will be: only if the channel isn't small (10K+ subs)

The answer for my situation personally......
I'm through the first round, through the second round, finalized the negotiations....
They say they'll send me the super duper contract for $9K per month...
The HR-person thinks, hey... what's that channel on the CV about....

OMG did that really happen!! That sucks I guess it depends on the type of channel you have.

Did you try to fight it, I don't think they can choose to not hire you because of that?"

LOL, I wasn't clear I think.

I mean, that would happen if I put my Squeal Cat channel on my CV :D. Not that this really happened. I wished though, getting such a contract means I actually do posses some relevant work skills :D

Lol gotcha! I was gonna say 9k per month is amazing haha

I think I would mention that I make gaming videos in the section of the CV for interests, then leave it at that. I wouldn't mention it at interviews unless someone asked me about it.

Nope. If I'd have some actual "results" to show from it. I probably would've mentioned it. But now I'm more likely to mention that I am an admin, on one of the biggest simracing-sites that exists, with over 300'000 unique visitors every month, and rising :)

Personally, I wouldn't, because it wouldn't help me get a job. Now, if I had a Philosophy or Physics channel or something and was applying to work at a tutoring company or something along those lines, I would. But mine is just a coping mechanism for my depression, so it's pretty casual.

I tried out for the management position at the Little Caesars I worked at for 9 years. I pretty much had the job in the bag until somebody had to mention my channel and they immediately chose somebody more "focused on the business" I was told. To make matters worse is that my new manager is half my age and in college and he can be more "focused on the business" than I can? It truly is a cruel world we live in.
