Would you have started Youtube if...

I started using YouTube just to put up something to be creative. Money wasn't even a thought for the first three years. (7 years in now)

I don't make any money from YouTube and I'm not extremely popular, so yes. I would still do YouTube even if there wasn't any chance to make money from it. I do, however, love having an audience. The point of making videos, for me, is to share my thoughts with people, hear others' opinions, make friends, and be creative. As long as YouTube gave me those things, I would keep making videos.

I honestly started my channel because I love making people laugh and wanted to bring it to a larger scale.
just making my classmates wasn't enough for me so YouTube was the best way to do it.

Like everybody else has said, I started YouTube back in 2010 with the idea of having fun. TF if I knew what "monetization" was at that time. I didn't even know what a mango was back then. So I guess if you had asked me back then, my answer would be yes.

If you ask current day me, my answer would probably have to be no. It would be like posting to my beloved MySpace Video. People watch, but no real... Anything gained in the long run, just isn't worth it to me.

Then again, I'm probably going down the road with the dead end on it anyway. Might as well get drunk while I still can.

I haven't earned any money from Youtube. I have no desire to become famous from it. I make videos to complement my blog and writing. I use many platforms just to market my writing and wisdom all around.

That's how I started it and it was way more fun, not only because there was no benefit besides ratings/views, but because the amount of competition was so much lower, so even my s****y videos made purposely to anger people would get views. Oh the good old days.

Id think honestly 90% would say no, because most of us at one point in our life have watched someone "big" on youtube and say, i want to be like them.

I am doing this in hopes that one day I can use it to make a little extra money. I do like what I'm doing, at least so far, or otherwise I wouldn't be doing it regardless. But time is money, and really youtubing takes time. I would probably still do it if there was no possibility of money, but I wouldn't spend anywhere near as much time on it as I am now. Just like I might volunteer somewhere for a few hours a week, but even if I liked the work I wouldn't be able to afford volunteering 30 hours/week.
