I would imagine that this depends on the type of content .. content that relies primarily on social elements to get views and timeless content that taps into organic search traffic. The first would need to target heavy traffic days & times .. the second wouldn't have to worry about it.
Didn't someone (I forget what group) do a study on post visibility and when is the best time to post something in order to have it get seen by the most people? I'm trying to remember their findings in full but all I can remember is that they used Facebook since a lot of traffic goes there and that the peak time for post visibility was late on a Friday (but they had an exact time) I really wish I could find that study because I know it's posted online somewhere and it would answer a lot of questions in this thread >.<
I've seen tons of those studies .. they're really good to post on blogs from an SEO standpoint because everybody is searching on how to get the most traffic. LOL When it comes down to it though it depends on your audience. If my primary target is teens then I might find that posting at 3pm is the best time because they all just got out of school and before they go do anything else they checkout what's happening online (as if they weren't doing that all day from their phones) However, if I'm targeting a 30+ year old demographic I'm going to find that 3pm is the worse time possible because they're all at work and 5-6pm is best because they all just got home for the day. Then you have to think about time zones. Where does my primary audience live? Because if 5pm is the best time to post and I live on the west coast but my audience is mostly east coast then my best time of 5pm becomes 8pm. LOL
There's just too many variables for a "true" study that could provide any general guidelines worth following. You have a 1 in 24 chance of your best time of day being the same as my best time of day. So basically, anyone wanting to know the best time to post is going to have to actually do the work themselves from continuous trial & error and monitoring of their own analytics .. that's the only way to get accurate information.
Jose you crack me up.
I think you are right however sometimes I can get more over the weekends but it does tend to be weekdays. That's why I upload every weekday nowI think the weekends are the worst time to upload top youtube ,are there any statistics to back this up ?
my videos that I put up on weekends never do as well as in the week
hmm ... to be honest for me it was when i was more active on wednesday and friday evening befor ppl would go out and drink like piggies lol ... and after that i kinda lost trackThe Thursday 2-6pm theory dates back to a research paper from students at University of Calgary written over 5 years ago and it was based on only 2 test groups ... the students / faculty on the schools network & what youtube listed as the globally most viewed videos of the day. Might as well walk into a local high school and ask a few kids when they watch videos then find out when Gangnam Style was uploaded and average the two times together.![]()
