Working with channels bigger and smaller than you

The only collabs I did were interviews/broadcasts on Twitch.tv .
I never collaborated with anyone on Youtube .
But I'm planning some collabs in future .
 
I've made collabs only twtice. Both channnels were significantly bigger then me but i've offered them new and fun ideas that didnt exist on youtube before. I had a decent size so it wasnt like 100 and 10000 subs channels working toghether.

But for me its not 100% comfortable when your result depends on someone esle. I used to do everything on my own because I know what i want to recieve at the end and I treat my channel as a business that needs to be developed. I think that collabs are only suitable for channel of similar size because they'll both equally benefit from that. Its really hard to collaborate when someone has 15 000 subs and the other channel has 500 000 subs and you need to think carefully about your proposal when you are smaller.
 
I really like the idea of collabs, but I haven't gotten around do doing any yet.
I wanna write some jokes and have people read them out/play the other characters.
but at the same time I'm aware that might be weird because everbody has a different sense of humor so there's no telling if a joke I write for someone will work etc.
