Working with channels bigger and smaller than you

I have done a few collabs, though my only one with another youtuber has been a joint review with @TheSoreIka Honestly I seriously want to collab with just tonnes of people. Like some guys dream of fame and subs and money and junk, I dream of doing table talk and truth or dare kind of stuff at defranco inc.
Even though I constantly miss out on opportunities to collab because of my less than spectacular sub base, I really want to collab with anyone willing, who has interesting things to talk about, and who puts out the kind of content I would watch.

I have been getting addicted to collabs recently, i am currently editing a video that has me and nine other youtubers in it!

Gahh I want to do all the collabs. It's so annoying though. Twice I have gotten unfairly close to getting in only to be rejected from lack of enough interest.

Sometime in the future I'm hoping to do a Civ V collaboration with somebody, but if I do I don't think I'll be looking to partner with anybody significantly smaller than myself - nor significantly larger. I think these things work best when both channels are of a similar size personally.

I think it's more important to look at personality and how you will click with that person.

Iv not had the chance to collab with others yet but to me i don't care about the size they could have 1 sub or 1 million subs to me its not really about getting more views and subs it's about establishing friendships

I think channel size and personality go hand-in-hand in some cases - try to imagine a 100 sub channel partnered with a 10,000 sub channel; I think there would always be that distance between them since they're both creating for the same platform, yet one is obviously currently more successful than the other (leading to feelings of one bringing more to the table than the other..possible tensions..) - I don't actually have an example of such a situation for evidence, but it doesn't seem unlikely to me

i would consider working with any channel, irregardless of size. the only thing that would matter would be if we had a similar style, as then we could both benefit from each others audience. I can't see myself ever working with a gaming channel for example as i don't think our respective audiences would be interested in the other.
