Working with channels bigger and smaller than you

I have been on this website for a little over two weeks and in that time i have worked with a lot of channels some bigger than me and some smaller than me. I have made 8+ intros for channels, half are bigger than me and the other half are smaller. I am leading a collaborative video project that is including 10+ Youtubers.

If i sound like i am bragging i am not i just wanted to ask the question to you people, what size channels do you work with? do you try work with channels around your size? do you aim higher? do you help people lower?

I work with all kinds of channels, i work with those who are bigger because i can learn from them and benefit from exposure to their fan-base and i try to help the people who are smaller because i was there not very long ago and i want to help them when very few helped me.

Do you interact and collaborate with other channels? do you work with channels far above or below your subscriber count?
 
I've helped with a project on another channel that was probably equal with me in the sense of views, but normally I don't do collaborations. I think I just have issues where I want full control over a process. I haven't found someone who shares my sense of humor I guess.
 
The only collabs I do are with people who I am friends with already, simply because I feel more comfortable that way as I know what they are like to its easy to play off of each other. Plus I've done musical collabs too so it tends to be friends with that also.
