Whyyyyyyy....

I don't think we get to vote untill later in the summer.

Sorry, missed this. The email I got says that the page goes live today for feedback, so unless they add another voting element to the page (I think it's live in it's final form now, but I'm not sure of the exact time they gave, because I'm in Australia) the 'voting' is just leaving feedback. In the email it says that people have a week to give feedback on the page and the pages with the most pages by the 27th are in the top 30 leader board (but not necessarily the actual top 30). The top 30 make another video that goes into another round of 'feedback'.
Wait I dont see any challenge on their youtube page...
You mean on the geek and sundry youtube page? Or my youtube page?

Their youtube page

Oh my gosh! A fellow Geek and sundry lover? Don't tell me! Felicia Day told you to go there after you were done watching The Guild? Guild lover of 6 years here... :x32:

On another note... I guess that takes the voting decision out of their hands and it makes them seem less biased or something--not that a popularity-based vote isn't biased--but I see what you mean. It's not fair for people who have the talent and motivation but don't have the umph-mass of people to support them.

So I submitted a video to Geek and Sundry Vlogs because they are looking for vloggers and opened up the opportunity to everyone which is cool. But now it turns out they are basing it on public feedback (like, the channels with the most feedback make the leaderboard), and while that is not definitely the determining factor, it is super discouraging because there are going to be so many bigger channels than mine, with more subscribers and people to give feedback.

I know that I'm being stupid, that it makes perfect sense for them to open it up to public opinion, to people that would watch their channel, but I just feel like I have no chance now...

Anyway, I haven't given up or anything, I just wanted to rant a bit and be slightly irrational...

God damn when are people going to learn that 'public feedback' on things like this ALWAYS turns what should be a good bit of competition into a pointless popularity contest?

That really sucks.
