Why so many videos about Minecraft on YT?

I've been browsing through the top 100 YouTube gaming channels and what I've seen is that a lot of them post tons of video about Minecraft. Personally I haven't played Minecraft but I know that monetizing gameplay footage from them is allowed on YouTube. So my question is Minecraft really that popular and fun or are they simply creating those videos because you can monetize them?

Any thoughts?

I play three different kinds of minecraft on my channel. First off servers like Hypixel, Mineplex and The Hive offer fun games and are very popular. Second I play the Fossils and Archaelogy mod because I like dinosaurs. Third I play a vanilla minecraft server with friends...so I tend to record alot of minecraft. Its easy to play, records well but they are NOT the highest viewed videos on my channel unless we do a UHC. But hey they are fun! And that is ultimately why I play them.

Its actually fun to play if you know what you are doing, I dont care about monetizing stuff on youtube. Dont even know what it means if I am honest.

Yeah, I'm sure it's half and half. People hoping they can make a quick buck off of it because it's popular, and the other half are playing it on YT because it's fun and they genuinely enjoy it and want to share that. It all comes down to Minecraft being extremely popular though. Pretty sure 95% of gamers have at least heard of it, so there's opportunity to be seen.

lmao nowadays it feels more like more Five nights at Freddy's compared to Minecraft. It feels like there's more of that then there was of Slenderman when he was new.
