Why Gaming Content?

At least all of you guys have setups and equipment. All I've got are video concepts within a Notebook that is going to fill up soon. I attend College and live on campus and I hardly have time for a job let alone my hobbies like Video Games and YouTube.

Anyway, I want to get on YouTube with Gaming Content because no one was making content that I wanted to see. The topics people talk about and games they play for the most part just don't interest me. I have my own Content I want to talk about, share and create. Since I am also a narcissist I’ve been planning for the last two years how I’m going to stand out amongst the sea of oversaturated gaming content.

I have many original and creative concepts down and I’m coming up with new Ideas every day. Just today I came up with three concepts I couldn’t believe I didn’t think of earlier. Anyway, the only thing holding me back is a beast enough PC for recording and rendering.

I joined the forums tonight because the topics on the Gaming Community have been very interesting lately just like this one. Since I am in a jolly giving mood I plan on giving out some gaming video concepts. I just need to look thru my concepts and see which ones I can afford to give away :p

No offense to the gaming channels (I'm one of them even), but for other people, it's practically all they can do and it's the easiest type of channel to do and be efficient in. You know that most people nowadays don't really want to spend a lot of time editing and making the videos more entertaining, so they just post a full, uncut clip of them playing a game, then post it on Youtube.

That was okay in, probably 2008 or something, but now, with millions already doing that, originality and uniqueness in gaming channels has gone down in the dumps. That's why if you probably do something different rather than just record-and-post, you'll probably get more active followers and views.

on my gaming channel this is correct. All i do is record and post. Not because its all i know how to do or want to do but its literally all I'm able to do because i dont have the money to buy an editing program.[DOUBLEPOST=1399542065,1399539992][/DOUBLEPOST]
That is one of the reasons I introduce the webcam in alot of my gaming videos, sometimes its for the reaction other times its for when i talk people can get to know me more... lol i dunno but I am growing more confident in doing it the more videos I make... I dont want to pretend to be a kid on youtube like pewdiepie even tho i think he is funny ... I couldnt be like that!
I agree with u on the facecam thing and growing more confident with each video but don't sell urself short on not being like pewds. Anyone can be like him. U just gotta work for it. Have u seen his first few videos? No editing, no facecam, he kept saying stuff like "why do I keep doing that? Its not even funny!" to me, that doesn't sound very confident. It actually annoyed me a bit but look where's he is now! (the videos in referring to are the first few Amnesia videos)

I don't understand it either. There's was a time I wanted to do gaming videos but I've noticed its a big waste of time. You really have to know someone already in it to get noticed. Not to mention all the trolls you run into.

To stand out on the gaming side of youtube you have to find that game who is not yet a trend but will ! GTA V have done some great result for some users !
You have to find the next Minecraft/COD/Gta to get some fame !

Some of you think to much and don't act enough, STOP THINKING and start enjoying yourself making videos !

Back to OP, I make both (vlog and gaming)on my channel, I didn't even think about it as two different thing. The vlog are about the channel and gaming though. For instance, I found vlogging easier to make and share on facebook as the non gaming people come and watch too !

I really think the both can work side by side on a channel ! :)

I too would like to understand this. By the time I finish writing this reply there was probably 3 or 4 gaming channels set up. The majority of people I know who set up a gaming channel was to become the next PewDiePie, Syndicate, Yogscast, CaptainSparkles etc. Theres so many gaming channels out there being created every day with the same intent and in my eyes it gets very stale which is why I switched from gaming to vlogging because I find there to be more an appeal to vlogging and such than gaming. Dont get me wrong theres a much market for gaming but the people that are at the top will and always be at the top and it is extremely hard to take them down or overthrow them. The only real way to compete or even come close is to ge a shoutout from one of them and thats the sad reality for both gaming channels and vlogging channels and all channels alike.

But I really do want to know what drives you gamers on here, do you do it for the fun? Do you do it for the subs and views? Do you do it for the fame? Do you do it to try and make a living off of it?

For me it is because no one is making the content I want to see. I can't find anyone who has even half of the same interests I do on YouTube. I came to the realization one day that I would have to make the content I wanted to see. Also, where I come from, there is no one with interests like mine in regards to videos games and fiction so I get the feeling of being an outcast sometimes. So having people to talk with about my interests is a huge thing for me in regards to going on YouTube as well.

It's just fun and it's contagious. Gamers usually watch you tubers and usually get inspired by them to start making gaming videos.

I think it's more about showing off something that entertains you to everyone else in the world, also finding other people out there who like the same things. Although it's also about showing off how good you are :D

I am beginning to do it because I enjoy it. And if you enjoy you don't really care what other people say about it as long as it pleases you.

I understand where gaming channels come from, and there are good ones, but its usually the ones that know how to edit, so they would not have a 20 minute episode of them failing at the game, but actually have progress.

What I do not understand is face cam, why would you ever have that? I can see how it works in horror games, due to a reaction, that I get. However, 99% the facecam is just there as an ugly out of place random square in the corner of the video, which covers the actual game, which is the main entertainment.
