I Love YTtalk
So I was just saying I don't think that people thinking you are crap is the most common reason for dislikes, I want to know what you think.

I think that most people just ignore content that isn't up to their standards and that to leave a dislike usually means that they disagree with you - that they have engaged enough to disagree.

What do you think?

For me, it´s a combination of what the message they are saying and the person themselves, I can find a person obnoxious and stuff

I dislike videos when they're discriminative and hurtful to others. For example I stumbled across a video where a vegan was ranting and she said that people who eat meat deserve to die, so I disliked it. I get that people are entitled to their own opinion, but if you opinion is going to hurt people, don't post it on one of the largest websites in the world.

Sounds like Freelee the banana girl! I think I have seen that video as well!

Normally I just click back if I don't like a video for whatever reason. Rarely do I actually dislike the video because even before I created YT content myself I understood that it could be hurtful to someone that was trying their best to get a random dislike out of the blue without any context behind it. The only time I will click the dislike button is if the content is deeply and personally offensive (especially if the creator is just pandering by trying to be shocking) or if they were being misleading or offering illegal content to the viewers.

because I didnt like it, pretty much that reason lol there's no deeper meaning if I didnt like the content then its the easiest way to let people know. especially for comment sections with like over a few hundered comments it seems kinda pointless to explain yourself when the comment wont likely be see, plus SOME people can be incredibly pissy when you offer actual criticism and they still take it as hate.

I voted:

1.Poor content is pretty self-explanatory, though also vague.

2. Disagreeing with the message - sometimes, but not too often. If the message is hateful, or just flat out incorrect or unsupported yet argued for super strongly, perhaps I may dislike. If it's simply somebody having a different preference, or explaining a different interpretation to something, etc, I will never dislike due to that. It's not simple disagreement that causes me to dislike. It's when the message is extremely flawed to the point where the video's existence becomes pointless, or if it's basically a bigot making a video - that is when I would dislike for the message.

3. Science/instructions are wrong. Don't really watch instruction videos, but I've seen quite a few popular science videos where they just completely mangle the concept they are covering, or get the fundamentals wrong and present a popularized misunderstanding of something. As somebody with a zoology degree, I really value effective and accurate sharing of scientific topics or concepts, but reversely, I loathe when misrepresentations or myths are spread.
