Why Do people look down at gaming channels?

ALL valid points but theres alot of gaming videos that take alot of work and some even script like me im working on a "Machinma" type video where its a sieres all recorded and acted in halo 4.

Okay here it goes I notice alot of vloggers and other youtbers acting like making gaming videos are easy and look down at them. First let me say if you want to be a gaming channel you need expensive gear I know cause I just bought a hauppauge and a blue yeti mic and it was alot of money.Gaming videos can be easy if you are doing a quick commentary but,if you are recording playing with friends or a montage alot of work goes into editing.Alot of work also goes into getting game footage you dont want to bore your audience with dull gameplay. Thanks for reading ;)

You think having a gaming channel is expensive? Get into filmmaking. :P

I think the respect the gaming genre (may) deserve is weighed down by a huge amount of the people that make them being boring. When I click on the odd gaming video, even by a popular guy, I can't see what makes him better or unique compared to another gamer.

The way I see it, gamers have it the easiest in terms of editing, but not everyone can be a good gaming commentator. Let's players need to have a quick wit, that's basically it, but if you can't think of witty things to say on the spot, you probably won't do too well. With most other channels they have to prepare a script which takes up more time, but they have time to put in anything funny.

exactly, and the hardest part or most frustrating part is when you screw up. You could be 10 minutes in, everything is going fine, and then your mind goes blank and you start babbling like an idiot. You can't really just edit that out, you gotta just do it over. Which is VEEEERY annoying.

But I mean, with gaming (assuming it's a traditional let's play) you kinda just have it or you don't. If you're naturally funny, your big obstacle is nerves, get over your nerves and be your funny self and you can make let's plays all day. If you're not though? Those videos can be... unsettling to watch...

Couldn't you just edit the audio, and keep going from where you left off.?

There are just way too many gaming channels that are all the same. I don't "look down" on gaming channels, but I wish there was more personality, uniqueness, and creativity in them.
Sup?

No I'm kidding.

But anyways. As a gaming channel myself, I know how it's like to edit and stuff; it can be super time consuming, depending on your content. Mine? I record for like 20-40 minutes and I edit it so that it would be under less 10 minutes and such and I try to find the funnies moments (Unless it's a let's play)
I don't like having content unedited and just like that, cause I think that's kinda boring.
But yeah, I can kinda see why gaming channels would be looked down upon. It seems like all you do is sit on your a** and talk, at least to people who aren't gamers on youtube I think.
I've tried making comedy sketches before (and I'm still planning to), and it's way more time consuming. My school video projects take more time to edit than my gaming videos, so yeaaahhh....

Not all gaming channels just do let's play type of commentary videos. It took me both days of my weekend to do a six minute guide video. (Just to get haters : /) you think it doesn't annoy me to see more popular vlog channels that get lots of views that have no production value? It works both ways, cheap vlogs are dime a dozen as well...

I'm not a fan of gaming but only because I'm not interested in video games. I'm horrible at them.
There are boring gamers, but there are boring vloggers too. I don't think it's right to look down on a genre as a whole, but a lot of people seem to do it...
