Why are your Videos a certain length?

When I write scripts for my sketches I have no idea how long they end up being! I'm aiming for 3 minutes because I know I get bored when watching other people's comedy sketches that are longer (unless they're really good which mine are probably not :D) So when mine are over 3 minutes I try my best to edit them down.

Mine are usually around 4 minutes, simply because that's how long it takes for me to say the things I want to say. Although today's video will be more like 7 minutes because it's a collab and we got slightly carried away while writing the script!

It's definitely an attention span thing with me. The ones where we're working with the puppets, it can be a slog to make very long videos, because it's not just setting up the camera and standing in front of it...we have our arms up in the air above our heads, and that gets really tiring. Also, I think when I'm doing comedy, if I give myself more time, it just loses some of the fun.

My cooking videos are a little bit longer, but again, I don't really like watching a 20 minute recipe, so I like to just give the information, show a few visuals of the process, and talk about the results.

Hair videos are a bit more rambling, but that's because I'm talking to a group of people who I "know" (as much as you know someone through comments on channels). It's like a hangout session more than anything. I rarely do much editing on my hair videos; they're generally one long take.

It depends on the topic. Ones that need more explanation took about 15 min. Sometimes I do not need that much time and the videos are about 3-5 minutes.

We try to keep ours under 5 minutes. Our fan base are kids, we all know their attention span. Plus my average view time is about 1:45, why am I making anything longer than 1:45?

So it all depends on your video content, I have personally watch a video that was over an hour. But it was information based.

I film shelter dogs and cats so I try to keep them short (1 minute max). I don't think anyone wants to watch other people's pets for too long unless they are doing something truly amazing.

My videos I try to keep under 10 minutes, but usually hover around the 6-7 minute length. I've done a few that were 3-4 minutes, but I think it really depends on the content.

My videos are usually commentary on the world and what I think is ridiculous. So sometimes it takes longer to set up the premise, and then need to say something about it. So can really vary by the topic I'm talking about. I also did a couple of satire videos that didn't need as much set up.

I try to keep them under 10 minutes, because I know people won´t stay that long, but my traveling videos tend to ber 10minutes or more because of the footage I got!

I don't have a specific time in mind for my videos but I don't like them to be longer than they need to be (as weird as that sounds). I usually say everything I have to say in under 3 minutes but for product reviews / hauls etc they tend to be about 10 minutes in length.
I don't like shortening videos when shortening them might make the story harder to understand and I don't like clips where I repeat the same point or go off on a random tangent being in the video in order to make it a specific length.
