Why are some YouTube commenters so brutal???

This one is my all-time favorite threat:

This one is my all-time favorite threat:

Did they post it like that or did you covert it like that for the forum? It hard to read going by that fast, but I can see it's pretty harsh. It's either a crazy guy or a 12 year old kid.[DOUBLEPOST=1423948820,1423948575][/DOUBLEPOST]Jenna Marbles did a video where she read some the mean comments she got. Some other YouTubers have done similar videos and have done great job with it. Her video wasn't that funny because the comments were too mean to even be remotely funny. I think at one point, it looks like Jenna was about to cry.

Because is is anonymous. There is no change of retaliation. And as most have already pointed out, they are largly pre teen or teenagers that have yet to learn the ways of the internet.

The key is not to get drug into any comments, no matter what someone might type. You can smell a troll a mile away, they usually try to push your button with a specific comment, hoping you will engage. I ignore them most of the time, but sometimes I have some time to feed the troll. It's great fun.

It's extra hypocritical because in the video he literally asks for "no mean comments".
Wow that is hypocritical indeed. But best thing to do is to either ignore it, delete it, block it. You could comeback to it if you wanted to or think of something witty. But besides that it's best not to take negative comment like that to heart other wise you will be easily discouraged. Some people will provide you with criticism that may come across as extremely negative, you need to bare in mind that's ones opinion and you need to take your audience into consideration not just an individual. In some cases if possible an individual can be taken into account but not all the time.

This is an odd phenomenon on YouTube that I do not like. The death threats and all that crazy crap...

Why? is it for attention? I don't understand what I see in some of the bigger YouTuber comments...

On here we're all nice and helpful, what doe you guys think?
To be honest its like going on a forum and seeing people being rude it makes them the "cool" guy on the internet some people just like the attention that they get from the youtuber if there is any at all.

Honestly, I think people who post mean comments are like any other bullies in real life - they are probably very insecure, and being rude on the internet gives them some sort of confidence boost. Maybe they even have their own bullies they have to face in their own lives, so taking out their pain on YouTubers satisfies them somehow? I don't know, haha, personally I think if someone doesn't enjoy a YouTuber's videos, they should just unsubscribe and not click on their videos in the first place! There are some really interesting points on here, though, and it's such a complicated topic! I wish everyone on YouTube was as nice as all of you! :)

They're just what I like to call attention whores. They get bored and think it's funny to post brutal things on the internet to make others mad because they can't do anything about it.
