Just do some topical videos. I was stuck on 50-60 subs for ages until one of my videos broke through the streams a bit. a bigger youtuber shared one of my videos and that helped me quite a bit.

This is how I see things regarding getting views and subscribers:
MOST IMPORTANT (Content) This is the most important aspect as so many have said before. Is your content any good? Watch your videos and ask yourself: Is what I am publishing good? Would I subscribe to it myself? How many other people are doing what I am doing, am I being original? Why should Joe Soap subscribe to me? Focus 100% of your time improving and producing great content because this will lead to viewers sharing your views and paving the way for more subscribers.
Don't do it for the money. Even with a great partner, you need a tonne of views (many thousands a month) and subscribers to see any real monetary benefit. If your original intention was to copy what someone does online and wait for the cash to start rolling in, you're going to fail. Financial reward from your content should be a by-product of the effort you put in.
Share your work. If you're content is based on a specific genre, join forums and newsgroups related to that genre, you're more likely to pick up view, fans and subscribers who are also interested in your genre. Google for stuff related to your genre and get your bit in there.
What I recommend doing is produce content like you already have 1,000,00o subscribers and 100 million views! You need to upload stuff like you have a massive captive audience and it's your responsibility to produce quality content for the masses! Ignore your subscriber and view count. This is what I try and do.

That's great. I guess I just personally wouldn't do it if it isn't even the least bit related to the original popular video because people might think that I'm just doing it exactly to get subs. That's just me though.

well, yeah, thats is why ppl do it. thats not a secret. but lots of people do it so no ones gonna criticize you for it.That's great. I guess I just personally wouldn't do it if it isn't even the least bit related to the original popular video because people might think that I'm just doing it exactly to get subs.
