When will the money roll in?

Listen everyone, I HATE when people tell me that " your just doing it for the money so quit now" cause i've been doing this for a year, no money earned, it's so much fun but I want to upgrade with props and stuff and I should be making cents at least. I just want to see 0.001 made on the video i just posted but no, all I get is 0.00

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but my friend has 1100 subscribers and he says that he makes like 10$ a month and I was wondering how to get money. I signed up for AdSense but it won't let me access my account... I just don't know how to manage everything

Your friend must be part of a network or something. You don't get paid until you reach $100. By joining a network, they take a percentage of your money, but some of them have minimum payouts as low as $1. Also, you get paid by ad clicks, you don't get paid by subscribers. I don't really know how to help you access your account, by once you reach $100, google should pay you.

See i'm such a noob I don't even know what you mean by network? Like I thought the only way you could get paid was with AdSense

You've probably heard of them. . .

Maker
Maker Gen (used to be called RPM)
Cruse/Union for Gamers
Fullscreen
Style Haul
Awesomeness TV
Freedom

These are just a few of the biggest networks out there. Basically a network takes part of your money (usually between 10-40%) and in return you get perks. Some of those perks include a lower payout then $100 and also you can paid through paypal instead of a check or direct deposit.

Hey man, 1$ would be AMAZING! I'm just exited to be making money plus I haven't heard of any of those networks some i'm glad you showed them to me :)

If your motivated mostly by money when starting a YouTube channel, quit now. There's a reason you'll see this statement repeated over and over. What makes most channels good to great is the passion the content creator has for their videos. The money is just the icing on the cake.

However, if you're curious about specific numbers, I'll give you mine since it seems to be very difficult to find any specifics in regards to what the average YouTuber earns. I have 38k subs I think, but that has nothing to do with determining what I make any given month.

Remember the amount of money made is decided by *views* not subscribers. Not all views count either. Only the monetized views aka the views that air commercials or other ads to the viewer and can be tracked. Many people run ad blocker, and many mobile device views simply don't count. For my traffic I get about 250k monetized views per 800k views during a 30 day period.

The next aspect that affects how much a YouTuber will make is the CPM (clicks per mil). That's a dollar amount for each 1000 monetized views. So with my CPM of $13.50 for that month (if goes up and down depending on ad budgets), and my 250k monetized views, I gross $3,3375.

Then YouTube and your network takes a cut. YouTube takes 45% with the 55/45 split leaving $1,856. Then you pay the cut to your network if you have one. Mine is a 90/10 split, so my take home is $1,670 on about 800k total views.

I make more money selling my own ads to open my videos than I do from YouTube itself, but that's a system I spent the lifetime of my channel setting up. Then 3 months ago I initiated the paid promotions to earn enough money to do YouTube full-time.

There is money out there in this business, but don't go into for money. I was initially successful because I was and still am obsessed with all things to do with getting the game play, editing, commentating, and researching YouTube and gaming related subjects to further improve the quality of my videos.

That is very insigthful thank you. haha, dang I have a long way to go to make enough money to buy beer and cookies. I only get about 250k-270k monthly view at 4500 subs. But of course I only monetize a fraction of my videos. Out of 770 videos, I monetized maybe 50-60 videos. I'd probably monetized all of it if I was in a network, but I figure I'd try to go without a network. Does a network make it less likely to get third party matching and what not? 2-5 dollar a day for me lol.

Judging from your percentage, you are in Curse eh? Quite interesting if you joined another network, which would probably take a higher cut, you would make significantly less.

Frankly, it is hard work. It seems like a chore or a real job doing this. @_@

Seriously? 250k a month and only $2 a day, I get 30,000 views a month and I earn about $2-3 a day. btw i have a 95/5 split if thats any use

A lot of the views comes from videos that I don't monetize just because I am afraid of third party/copyright. It is a format I don't use anymore, but I used to like to insert pop culture 3-5second clips from movies or shows into my review videos.
