When To Start Collaborating With Channels

Maybe it also depends on the type of content you have, like in my case its very hard to collab :((
 
One note about collabs. If there is a youtuber I like and they colab, i rarely check out the other persons videos unless the person i like specifically gives me a compelling reason to. AND The other person is really engaging!

I see tough it is a change to make some cool content other than the regular one :D so win win
 
There's not a specific number you have to reach to start collaborating! It's a good Idea to start building friendships with other creators early on, because even if you both have 20 subscribers, the chance that they are the same 20 people is pretty much impossible, so by collaborating, you're exposing your channels to 20 other people, that may not have found your channel otherwise.
