Tasha Green and and Tommy's video are ones I commented on which I unclicked "Share on Google +", but as you can see, its activity (that I did something or visited the video) has shown up on my feed playlist on my main channel page.

Oddly enough, this only shows up if you have it as a playlist on your main channel page. You can see that if you click on recent activities either through its title (in blue) or via drop-down under the home screen (underneath your banner and name), it will not show.


So, I hope you haven't roamed around leaving strange comments on horse manure tutorial videos like I did. :laugh2: (That was a joke)

Google requires that you share your comments with a circle for some odd reason... You cannot not select a circle to post with (A yellow warning pops up as seen above).

If you wish to make a comment and not share that activity, you must unclick "Share on Google+" and select a circle that is "private". As far as I understand, this means that you must select a circle that has no one in it. I chose VIP in this case.

After you select your private circle you can comment as usual. Afterwards you will notice that next to your comment it says "Shared Privately".

I just made that comment about 7 minutes ago, and you can see that it is now not visible on my main channel page activity feed.

This should keep your comment activities from being shared.

Something to keep in mind is that you cannot un/select circles while on most mobile devices, so if you make any comments on your phone, although you have the option to unclick "Share on Google+" it will be shared on your Youtube activity playlist and Google+ public circle feed.

I've always had my comments shared…I'm just careful where I comment! lol

Yeah, exactly.

I can't come up with a situation where it would be a good idea to have a feature whereby someone can leave a comment somewhere but prevent people from replying! If someone leaves a positive comment (which was the case here), then the channel owner needs to have the opportunity to thank the person and if it's a negative comment, then he deserves a right to reply.

Likewise even if it's not the channel owner trying to reply. If someone is commenting somewhere, then people need to have the right to a reply if they want. Isn't Google+ supposed to be a social network where people interact ?

I don't think google put much thought into this. Other than how they can force people to use google+.

Google+ is the big brother of social networks. You can interact, but they determine how and if its ok for you to interact.:meh2:
 
I used to keep manually un-check it, but then again, I thought "Who the hell is ever going to go on my Google+ page? Hell, I don't even go on there myself", and just said f**k it.
 
I'm researching a little more on this... I'm not sure if sharing a comment privately will show it publicly while... It might just be on the video user's page only and no one else can see it... Hmm.

What is confusing is that it isn't clear what "privacy" settings belong to what site (Google+ or YouTube) Previously, you could just set it (in YT alone) that you don't want likes, comments etc to be pubicly viewable in your channel's feed, end of story. Now it appears that settings can be overridden :( :unsure:
