Whats your filming technique?

So, I'm going to film my introduction to youtube video tomorrow. It will probably just be me talking a little about myself and what I will do in my channel. But how do you guys film? Do you do it all in one shot? In some videos Ive watched it looks like there are many different shots taken or is that just because they edit parts out of one shot? If you understand what I'm trying to explain it would be wonderful to get some input.

I have my notes hanging from the lens on my camera, set everything up, focus on myself and make sure all my settings are right and then start recording.

Most people shoot for the edit, so basically you are recording knowing you are going to make edits in specific places, a lot of people will record all in one go and remove the parts they dont want in if its too long etc but I find this method can lead to editing issues later but many people prefer one long shot.

You can shoot shorter segments knowing theyre going to come together in a specific way, thats how I shoot my videos, in segments and I pause at the end of my sentences in case I need to make edits there. See what works for you when doing your first lot of videos.

I stick the camera on a bookshelf, with my laptop on one of the shelves so I can read my notes off and to generally prompt me should I forget, I take a cheeky look to what I've highlighted. Other times I'm sitting at my desk while filming so it's easy just to read off my computer. And other times I'm just doing little sketch scenes.

I tend to shoot in segments, simply because when it comes to editing it's easier to find without having to go through one big lump of raw footage. That's when I do the good news and good news extra. Cos it's easier for me to do that with those two. And with sketches in fact :)

When I branch into the more vloggy things I have on the agenda, I imagine I may film it in one lump because it may be easier that way.

I'll have to experiement. You have to find what's right for you and what is easiest for you. When it comes to filming in segments or one shot, take in consideration how long it'll take you to pull it all apart, and how effective your editing software is. :)

I suck at talking in front of a camera so I take several takes of each line/s and edit them together in jump cuts.

Well, I feel like what I do on youtube has A LOT of time consuming steps so here we go:

-I record my gameplay and take notes in point form as well as write down the time stamps so I can find what im talking about in 3-4 hours of footage.
-I then write a script that is 1200 to 1700 words (this gets me between the 5-10 minute range, not too long, not too short)
-I read out the script many times so I have multiple takes of each section so I can make sure I usually always have a good take
-I set up the audio before the video in Premier and then edit the video around the audio
-I find a way to turn 3-4 hours of footage into a 5-10 minute video
-I add some faint background music, set up my end-slate and done.

Video is usually of whatever I'm talking about or me depending on the video. I usually wing the talking segments. No scripts and just try and remember key points to talk about. I do want to start writing scripts however.
