What's my chances? UPDATE ***

so I have started a new YouTube channel which I have not even created my first video for yet. My aim and initial goal is to have 1000 subscribers by the end of month one and 20,000 by the end of month 4.
My content is going to scientific created content about magnets and experiments, non of that spammy crap you see all over YouTube.
I do not use any social media apart from YouTube although I do frequent Reddit and a few forums.

Do I stand any chance of achieving my goals?

I won't beat around the bush. Unless you have one big a** magnet, and I'm talking particle accelerator size, where you can zap cars off the bridge or a refrigerator out the window, your chances of those growth numbers are completely unrealistic.

I would say 100 subs month 1, perhaps 500 month 3, 1000 by month 4-5 if you execute flawlessly across all the required stuff (seo, thumbnails, craft, etc).

If you want to get there faster, see if CERN has an old magnet you can crate over. I'll definitely subscribe!

Oh, and when you say "spammy crap" I hope you're not referring to the hydraulic press ~ that's one cool crusher!

You sound like an engineer or techy. So am I. I won't beat around the bush.

Haha :)
I should have said in my original post that this is a second Chanel which is completely unrelated to my first channel. My first channel which is about the hobby metal detecting is currently sitting at 3000 subs and 550k views after a year, however I have found that I enjoy the hobby more whilst not having to record it.
I'm pretty clued up with SEO and for the last year I have been researching a lot to work out a strategy to incorporate into my new channel.
You watch I will have planned this for a year and it will completely flop lol.

I will update this post on the dates I have set to let you know how I get on :)

I have no idea. It's not impossible, but I don't know how it'd happen, so if you start striving toward those goals, let us know how it goes!

As people have said it's quite a hefty goal. I don't think it's impossible by any stretch though if you work hard enough at it

Let's be real! It is very unlikely to reach your goals unless you are on the gravy train. Channels can achieve this success if they are talking about a new and popular topic. Early success is very rare on YouTube. Good luck.

Well it's a little hard to tell. It depends on how many people are really interested in that type of content. It also depends on how well you present your content on YouTube. If it's high quality then you will probably grow faster, but if it is low quality then you won't be attracting that many new subscribers. Regardless of what content you post, if it's entertaining and is good quality chances are it will be successful. Especially if it's something not too many people make videos on. Although, I would focus more on quality rather than growth. Like I said before, if it doesn't look like you're putting any effort into your videos you won't be growing that much. Just ignore the sub count for now and focus all your efforts into editing and recording. Best of luck!
