What other types of videos would gamers watch?

Gaijillionaire

I've got a yen for being in Japan!
i know the word gamer is big and maybe too broad to use but I'd like some input and advice on what other kinds of videos would you watch ? I'd like to make videos about different sightseeing places and restaurants and movies too and not just focus on games so if you don't mind helping me out. Please answer these questions

1- what kind of game videos do you watch and/or make?
2- when you are finished watching game videos what would draw you into another area ?
3-if a channel you liked started expansion into other area, what would make you stop watching??

Thanks!

I like watching gaming videos.
heres things i would be interested in watching froma gaming channel OTHER than let's plays:

- talking about your opinion on gaming news, and controversial topics of interest.
- speedruns
- mods and hacks and glitches
- video game music remixes
- game merchandising unboxings, or like the 1UP boxes etc.

can't think of much else, but thats what I would probably watch from a gaming channel. If I wanted other topics like travel and food I would probably look elsewhere to be honest. It might be better to make a new channel for things like that. unless you can relate them to games in a way

well my hook is that I'm from japan, so games are really just one part of that. I just started with games first! But thanks for the input

yea thats what i was asking! id like to know what would keep people tuned in and how far away from games one can get before total interest is lost. my next video will be about a unique tokyo restaurant anyway

1. I personally play F2P (free to play) computer games and do commentary!
2. Most of the time I watch Faze Rain/Jev/ etc... and also a lot of Dude Perfect!
3. If they were willing to expand I woukdnt stop them because after all, it their channel!

just test it with your subs, and see what they prefer, you can ask them at the end what they would like and give a few options. see what comes out on top

Dude! If you're from Japan you should totally branch out! Gaming is a good focal point but any culture related or just going for a walk and making a vlog. Tons of internet folks in North America love that kinda stuff 'cuz we can't experience it ourselves! Heck, you could go shopping and people would watch it.

If you're gunna focus on gaming I recommend you play and review games that either aren't localized in the US and Europe or that will be coming a few months/years late to them. For example, Dark Souls 3. That's already out, I think, in Japan but here in the US it's not out 'til the 12th. That gives you a few week's advantage over US let's players and reviewers. That's a huge advantage if you manage your time well!

So I guess under normal circumstances I'd say, "no, do not try vlogs and culture stuff if you're gaming focused" but because of your locale you can hit that niche audience of gamers who love Japan. So go for it! Do what ever you're comfortable with!

All things Japan are really popular on YouTube. For some reason, Americans especially love watching people travel around to different shops and restaurants, etc. in the country, so definitely show off from where you are.

But in general, make videos that you, yourself would stop on if you hadn't made them. Would you like to see videos about another country? Chances are, someone else would, too. Don't try to make content based on what you think will be popular. Make videos that inspire you, make you laugh, keep you interested, etc. It's sad to see so many video creators doing exactly the same thing as other creators because they think that "audiences" want to see it. You're your first audience. Please yourself.

Xing and per d

Thanks! Glad to
Hear positive things about the idea. Before I plan a video I search YouTube to see if it's been done. If it's not done at all, that's the best scenario for me but if it's not done well or not done in English then I go ahead and make it. Hopefully this thread is still alive by summer to talk about what I ended up making. I do kind of have the viewpoint of "videos I want" but not so self centered as that but more like as you said, videos I'd engage in and people who are like me would too
