What is the Best Way to Tag/Keyword Your Videos?

I feel like I've learned a lot about Youtube, but this still gets me.

I do SEO as best I can, but what is the best way to keyword?

And can someone please tell me the "right" way to do tags?
(I feel like I always find different answers...). Should you do the title and channel as one tag then tag everything else, or should you do every word as a seperate tag?

I second this post! I'm really struggling with this. I've read through the thread on this website a couple of times but my head still can't wrap around it!
I just feel like I need a few examples and I'd be able to learn a bit more.

Do not do this, your channel will get banned

What I usually do for tags all depends on the video, for my prank ones what I will normally do is tag the title and name of the video. Then I will put in 'Prank' in the youtube search bar and see what the most searched prank related searches are and if I feel they apply to my video, I tag them.

Actually, that's not allowed. If someone reports your video for spamming metadata, you'll get a strike for every video reported.

Read above, not what I do, what I read to do.

I just have a keyword box which is basically my tags in my description.

He didn't say that you were doing this. He made a general statement to not do this.

You did say that you have read that it works. You implied that it is a desirable behavior.

It may work but if the channel gets caught doing so, they can lose their entire channel.

Now, to get back on subject, the keywords should be relevant to the video and they should be what you think a viewer would use in order to search and find that video.

I typed it in before refreshing the page, but I'm not talking directly to you either. It's to warn people who end up listening to what you said.
