What is the best HD screen recorder?

then thats another benefit to FRAPS, you don't need to fart around with settings it just works perfectly straight off the bat.

I agree with Gigflint, Mirillis Action is the best recording software out there. I have used mirillis action for almost a month and I love it! You can record your games and also your screen if you want to do a tutorial or something like that. Of course you can record you voice, take screenshots and much more. One thing I really like about mirillis action is that you dont have to play around with the settings to get good quality on your videos. Because the normal settings is really good, small file sizes and really good quality (full HD). So if you want to have a recording software that can record both your games and your screen I would definitely go with Mirillis Action!
does mirillis action support hd pvr

DXTory! If you have an Nvidia GTX600 or 700 series then you should probably use ShadowPlay (even though it's in beta). Amazing HD quality with such low file size.

I have used dxtory for a long time, but in end it's started to lag, I got frame drops and the audio got messy, I record my voice and the game audio, and when I used dxtory it didn't sound as good as I wanted it to be. The audio just sounded weird. That's why I got mirillis action.
By the why Dxtory can't record your screen like Mirillis Action can. Dxtory is much harder to understand, you must play around with the settings a lot to get good quality on your videos.

Make sure the audio is not being compressed, I made the mistake of choosing a format in DXTory's audio settings that compressed it and made it sound like junk. Just make sure it's PCM Uncompressed.
DXTory is my favorite, for someone with a really low end PC it works flawless, although you'd want a fast HardDrive, anything around 50mb/s is good for 720p @ 30fps with DXTory and its own codec and around 80-140mb/s for 1080p. :)

I use FRAPS sometimes, although for me it works better with slower HDDs as I was able to record to a 24mb/s USB2.0 HDD without problems at 720p @ 30fps.
