What is the best format to render my videos?

Hi. I just started using Sony Vegas and I love it, except - this thing says it will take 6 hours to render my video into a wmv file to upload onto Youtube.

I don't understand this. Is there a better format for me to render it as? Why does it take so long? The last time I did this (this is my 2nd Vegas edited video) it took 4 hours to render. Why is the time increasing? The video length hasn't increased all.
 
I prefer MP4, as it is YT's standard video format. But often rendering time is also linked to the pc's hardware, so the resaon may also be your pc's specs.
 
I use MP4 too, i'm pretty sure it's a smaller file size too.
In vegas there are options for "internet" MP4 videos, if you check through the list when rendering you will find them, i think they tend to render a little faster, but ultimately it is down to how powerful your computer is.

Use .mp4, it is recommended by Youtube and it is has a very small file size with petty good quality. As mentioned above rendering time really depends on your hardware and open programs. Try closing applications that you have open and see if it helps :).
 
Depending on your computer's capabilities and what level of quality you want, you may have to experiment around a bit to find the best setting. My advice is to take a very short clip of a typical video you make, and render it several different ways. Try all kinds of different settings. Decide which one is the best quality at a the quickest speed, depending what's most important to you.
 
There are several Mp4 options. Which is the right one:

One says Main Concept AVC/AAC (.Mp4 .avc)

Another says: Sony AVC/MVC (mp4, m2ts, avc)

ANother says: XDcam X (.mp4)

Yeah I'm not really sure how Sony Vegas works but I think that the second may be optimised for sony cameras in general and the last for their XDcam series of camcorders. I might be wrong but your best bet is to go for the top one and if there is any mention of H.264 (as @TheIDIOTBowi said) use that along with .mp4.
 
the sony AVC option is the one that has the internet 720p and internet 1080p options, use those for your rendering, it should be a little quicker as they're web optimized :3
