What is best free software to make thumbnails with?

I know there is photoshop and all that stuff but I am a kid and need something free/cheap. I would love some advice
 
Gimp is free, which is basically the free counterpart of photoshop, but tbh it's really confusing unless you learn to use it which will take a long time. I personally use a combination of Microsoft Paint, and Paint.NET

I like Paint.NET because you can easily layer pictures which you can't do in Mic. Paint. However, I don't think there is an option in it like there is in Gimp to trim or crop people or certain things out of pictures, so, I'd suggest getting all of them, and just learning how to use them for your purposes

The success of your youtube channel depends on you watching those tutorials! If your serious about youtube you will make time for that lol!

But I would definitively say gimp. I went to school for web graphic design and learned photoshop, but when I switched to gimp they are almost exactly the same. I learned way more in college from watching photoshop youtube videos then I did from my web graphic design classes.
