What is a partnership?

Wow, a lot of people got screwed over by networks. You should probably decide if the promises a network makes on services they can provide are worth what they expect from you BEFORE you sign. I wouldn't sign myself as I said in my original comment, I think it would be more rewarding to grow on your own. I have heard a lot of people praise networks however. If you have had a problem with a network its probably a bad judgement call on your part. There are 32000+ channels on Fullscreen alone and I don't think these networks could pull those numbers if they weren't in some way benefitting channels.

If you are thinking about joining a network for any reason weigh up the pros and cons for yourself.

Another possibility for the few people who commented about networks being negative could be you may have just chosen the wrong network for you.

Please stop quoting my comments now, I get it, you disagree.
Sorry, but not only do I disagree, I don't like that you automatically assume that because we speak out against networks, that we've all had bad experiences. I have never, and will never join a network. Not because, like you, I think it could be "fun to grow on my own." I won't join because I see absolutely no benefit in it, especially after years of research.

The quote button is so counter productive. I said "rewarding" not "fun" and I also said I don't care if anyone disagrees. If you create good content you will succeed with or without a network but networks can and will benefit you. Saying they do nothing doesn't make sense. If you create content nobody likes you won't succeed with or without a network. Learn the difference between an opinion and fact. Everything that has been said is subjective and comments have been directed at me rather than at the subject over the course of this discussion. I assumed these people had bad experiences with networks because they were bitter and they were speaking as if from experience. Why would somebody attack my opinion so fiercely if they had no experience with a network. That would mean they were speculating at best. Can I block quotes?

Don't bother. I'll just block you instead. Have a nice life.

Still waiting for you to answer my original question, since networks benefit people so much.

From what I gathered before I blocked him, his contention is that networks *must* help people, otherwise, why do so many people join them? Why are the big YouTubers part of networks?

I think once a YouTube channel gets to a certain level on their own (like 100,000 subs, or maybe 500,000), *then* the networks may start to do things that could help promote further. My point remains that for us smaller channels, networks do absolutely nothing except take our money.

It seems to me, even though I'm over 100K subs, that Fullscreen doesn't actively seek out advertisers. They are middle-men who wait for advertisers come to them. Even at that point, the advertisers are only interested in the top channels.

While Fullscreen says they have their Gorilla campaigns for channels to earn more money, from my experience, the campaigns were few and far between. The vast majority of them were to promote other channels instead of promoting brands. They appeared to be a tactic to get channels to stay with them.

In other words, they tell ABCchannel, we will give you a $10K Gorilla advertising campaign if you re-sign. So ABCchannel sees that as a $10K value but in actuality, who wants to do a Gorilla campaign promoting another channel?

Sorry but I'd just be regurgitating info I found online as I have no experience with any networks myself.[DOUBLEPOST=1398998432,1398998202][/DOUBLEPOST]

This contradicts everything. You never (and I never) stated anything about the size of channels who would benefit[DOUBLEPOST=1398999835][/DOUBLEPOST]Super fun learning experience on this thread. Don't post opinions about networks on YTtalk.
You've only been posting two weeks but you have strong opinions. You spout your opinions as if they are facts. It was wrong for you to assume that people sharing bad experiences agreed to bad contracts or have poor content.
I don't agree that I express my opinions as if they are facts but I was wrong to make an assumption. That was poor judgement/getting defensive.
