What If YouTube Didn't Exist?

If YouTube did not exist I would not be posting here... And that would be sad times, because there are a lot of cool folks on here. And fresh ideas. And yes, I do also stomp on people sometimes when they talk too much about subscribers and views instead of focusing on the one thing that matters. FUN!
Damn right!

Then VGM would never see the light of day. I mean, I wouldn't have a place to upload them. I know some other site like Vimeo or Blip would have been # 1, but really... they're too demanding, many of us would never get approved and we wouldn't be making the constant videos we're doing today.

Coincidentally this year will mark the 10th anniversary of YouTube's original launch. There would still definitely be a video sharing site but the option to monetize content may have never been made available to everyone the way it is now.

If youtube didnt exist... The life would be terrible... Bcz television is not really reliable source of watching good shows. Sometimes they show b******t and the tv producers dont listen to viewers. Youtubers atleast make content that can entertain the whole world. Easy way of showing talent rather than stayimg unrecognized :)

People would probably use Vimeo, Dailymotion, Myspace, Facebook, Newgrounds or make their own video website.
I used to go on Newgrounds a lot before I discovered YouTube.

At some point someone would have created another video sharing platfotm. No youtube, but its counterpart

Most likely.

Do you guys think that other video services like Dailymotion, Vimeo etc would become #1?

Well, if YouTube didn't exist, somebody would mathematically become #1 =)

The reason for YouTube's success is the partner program. There's no way successful channels would invest so much time unless they were earning revenue from it. Yes, people would still upload videos without earning money but it would be nowhere near the scale that it is now.

Facebook is touting that they are growing fast with user-provided videos. From what I have seen, the majority of it is stolen content from YouTube, Vine, Television, etc.

I remember Vimeo being around in the early days but the video quality was very high and my poor modem couldn't delivery the quality.
