what if i really see youtube as a career?

i think youtube has proven to be successful for many, many people, but i definitely think it's gotten much more competitive. doesn't mean it can't work out for you though! i just would never put all my eggs into the youtube basket- you never know what's going to happen with it and if it'll still be around in the future.

Keep an open an open mind about it. Always have a backup plan and write down a list of pros an cons if you were to have youtube as full-time career

It does not matter how many obstacles or how many things hold you down, the only way you wil ever be able to make progress is....to simply make progress. Any progress is progress none-the-less. I am just starting my Youtube channel up with my lifelong friend Adrean. I had a Youtube channel about 5 years ago but that was a joke to me at the time and all I wanted to do is make quickscoping montages.

Now that I am older and way more mature than I was at the time I have a different view; positive perspectives. People make money now-a-days doing anything. So people saying to not get into Youtube for the money are too broad in their message. I say if you want to do Youtube for a living...it is possible. But in order to do YT for a living you need to be making money to simply pay the rent, gas, electricity, etc. because you would not be going work from 9-5. So money is a necessity if full time YT is your goal. Think about it. You see these famous YTers making millions but what about those who are not making millions? We only hear about the YTers that are internet famous and that is the bar that has been put on everyone.

The way I see it is yes that can one day be a possibility. But I would like to think that right now I am making a little more than minimum wage in California and if could somehow make as "little" money on YT as I do on my day job, I would be more than happy. Then from that you can learn to better your tactics and invest even more in your YT (small business). So from that point on whatever happens is in your hands to make.

I am pretty sure that this, my example, is not at a subscriber base of 10 million, or 1 million, or 500,000. I have done research on this topic and depending on subscriber and channel engagement, freaking 50k subs with good active views can bring in adequate income. I do not view this as conformity, but as one who has been at the bottom from birth and is slowly climbing up, to me these numbers that to others may be nothing, have tons of value.

Use the words of the infamous "Rick Roll" to keep you motivated everyday. So long as you say those words to your future and even YT channel, there is no way one cannot succeed.
I can dig it man exactly the type of positive motivation I'm on

I wish everyone the best of luck but if you're not at least at 500000 views a month, you're nowhere near thinking about YouTube as a job, or a source of side income beyond a couple dollars. That means videos in 5 digits one after an another. I'm still in 4 digit territory and get a few cents per day

Same here, i´m 4 digits per month, and gets an average of a dollar a month!

It is sooo important to have goals! However, until you reach that necessary exposure to sustain a living every single day, I wouldn't be so quick to nix any other options! Have small goals, work towards other types of work as well, and just see where it takes you!

Good luck :)

Like anything else in life you're gonna get out what you put into it. Upload daily and like other top YouTubers say, Just Keep Uploading.

You can make youtube videos while finishing your college degree. Some here including myself wants to become a Full Time youtuber, who doesn't want it? But, college is important too. Studies first but I think this is what you want so, go for it. Good luck!
